(USA Today) Interesting Atlantic Monthly reports that one factor that doomed Hillary's campaign: shy campaign staff. During a conference call, Clinton suggested several ideas, and was met with silence. "This has been very instructive, talking to myself."   (blogs.usatoday.com) divider line 58

Maybe they were just too scared to speak up after witnessing her unhinge her jaw and swallow a dozen Labrador Retriever puppies whole for lunch. Or maybe they were just starstruck, who knows.

(1) Sad to say, most intelligent people wind up talking to themselves. If she hasn't got over that by now, wow.

(2) And why run this story now, just in time for the Convention when the focus should be on Obama and not Hillary. I smell rat. It could have waited until December.

Commenting on FARK =/= talking to yourself, although I admit it does feel like it.

Or maybe it's just that she failed in her duties as First Lady, so now most people don't want her to be president.

Lawnchair 2008-08-10 02:06:45 PM
She had mentioned her Tusla sniper fire at numerous occasions before the caught one. No one allowed in her circle had the ability to say "Um... wait a sec". She had said "you know, Bobby Kennedy got shot" several times before the one that got caught. No one had the ability to say "Um...". She had to have bounced her "Change you can Xerox" line off some people. They all said "that's great, Hillary".

"Mark Penn advised her to portray rival Barack Obama as having a limited connection "to basic American values and culture."

Maybe you shouldn't have a top campaign strategist who forgets that he's not running a candidate in the Republican primary where the winner doesn't take all delegates and voters are a little sick of being bludgeoned with the values meme bullshiat.

What a filthy scumbag.

I'm guessing because she's been making rumblings about a convention floor vote and still some hopes for a nomination. I'd shiat myself if that ever happened but does explain why the hatchet piece happens now.

sounds about right. I worked around most of the campaigns last year in Iowa and of all of them the Clinton staff was the only one that operated entirely from the top down. It was bureaucratic enough that nobody wanted to deal with their higher ups as quite frankly it was intimidating. All other campaigns were enjoyable to be around for the most part, especially the Obama and Biden staff. (dodd staff was nice but too desperate for supporters.)

Seriously the US is going to have to reconsider this whole one man one vote deal. There are waaaaay too many stupid people. And they're outbreeding the smart ones a la Idiocracy.

I think the US should go back to the old Greek model where you got certain rights for being born there, but only through service after the age of majority could you get citizenship aka voting rights.

Ye gods!

And Hillary still expects Obama to help her retire her debt?

BTW, how does one get a 'loan' during a campaign anyways? What if that loan isn't paid back? Could Coke or Doritos 'loan' a campaign millions of dollars?

Tell me about it. The video that they kept showing on the news conveniently cut out the 3 times she got on her blackberry to update her bid. What they also neglected to mention was that the little girl on the tarmac was there to get instructions to place bids for Hillary since the little girl would have access to broadband while Hillary took her tour. Damned biased media!!

Or maybe because the guy running her campaign, Mark Penn, was inept and incompetent. He didn't even know that primaries and caucuses were not "winner take all".

One of the most fundamental aspects of his job, and he was unaware of it. This is akin to a pro-basketball player not knowing what traveling is.

I think the ultimate reason the Clinton campaign failed was that it seemed to confirm the notions everyone has of Clinton: that she is a mean-spirited, vindictive biatch who would rather take the whole party down than let anyone else have that nomination. And Penn unwittingly played into that, when anyone should have realized that what you have to do is redefine her, in a lot of ways, or show new facets of her personality.

I think the "mediocre Rove" description of him works just fine.

But, no.... she isn't a crazy-ass biatch who terrifies her immediate circle of advisors. She wouldn't go nuts blaming her underlings for any failures, nope. Ready on Day One, and all that.

The U.S. electorate has made a VERY wise choice to keep both this incompetent and John Edwards from the Presidency. One more old out of touch incompetent to go.

"Whatever you say, boss."
