As for the topic at hand, big farkin deal. Please don't tell me the McCain campaign is going to try and use this as an Elitist attack against Obama. (Especially now that he's got his own little gaggle of Hollywood peeps coalescing around him)

Clooney's dad is a politician. Why do you think, just because he is in Hollywood his opinion is wrong? I mean, what makes some ahole at MSNBC, Fox, or CNN more intelligent than Clooney? How about judging someone on their intelligence rather than the gigantic company they work for? As Tim Russert said...integrity is for paupers. At least you know Clooney believes what he says.

By the way, if you are going to make a reference you have to expect that at least half the people reading will have no idea what you are talking about. If you are called on it explain it (or say it was a reference, which you finally did).

TFA: Oscar-winner Clooney, 47, is said to be helping the Democratic candidate to polish his image at home and abroad.

But he is also sharing with Obama his strong opinions on Iraq and the Middle East.

Not really img1.fark.net. An actor like Clooney doesn't get to where he is without knowing how to sell an image. The Middle East advice is pretty stupid though. And for the Democrats to reveal this little factoid is borderline retarded.

And finally, I would say that, you know, we are a little bit out of touch in Hollywood every once in a while. I think it's probably a good thing. We're the ones who talk about secret Muslims when it was just being whispered, and we talked about elitists when it wasn't really popular. And we, you know, we bring up subjects. This election, this group of people, gave Obama a nomination in 2008 when blacks were still sitting in the backs of polling booths. I'm proud to be a part of this Election. Proud to be part of this community, and proud to be out of touch."

So two of your examples are for real politicians who've proven themselves at least as competent as statesmen as anyone else in the field (admittedly not a high bar to jump, but still), and the other two are useless farkers who've largely accomplished nothing with their lives but to make a name for themselves briefly.

Basically, I'm getting a mixed message here and can't quite tell what arbitrary and stupid blanket judgement you're attempting to promote here.

//Was going to go with a "hey, that reflects how he's run his campaign so far" joke, but then I realized I derive more pleasure from pointing out how other posters aren't that bright.

Bootysama 2008-08-10 05:43:32 AM
I've honestly always liked Clooney. He seems like a rather intelligent man, so I don't see why it's a big deal that Obama is asking advice from this man who is apparently a good friend of his. Maybe I'm wrong, I know most everyone I know refuses to talk to their friends about major events going on in their lives...

Getting advice from someone that is, as far as I can tell, perceived to be a very jovial and funny man by many is in no way a bad decision to win over the everyday man.

/wishes McCain was more like who he claimed to be in 2000
//wouldn't have voted for him but wouldn't have been mad if he won
///hoping McCain is just "playing the game" to win and hasn't changed

Obama's "No Off-Shore Drilling, No Wait! No! No Off-Shore Drillng, but filling your tires up with air will negate all off-shore drilling anyway" policy sucks too.
