She is evil..I'm serious. I can't fathom Obama getting anywhere near what he wants out of her. Especially if it's anything that even smells like a tax cut/incentive, anywhere. She ain't giving any of that Bush tax/incentive expiration money back.

Well, he can't attack his plan any other way. If he says what Obama is really going to do that turns into a pro-Obama ad.

And McCain can't really talk about his plans too much because his plans suck. So why not just make shiat up and hope for the best?

Why is she evil?

Because she's stopping conservatives from drilling? It's been proven that drilling is the wrong thing to do, won't help for years and when it does it won't help as much as just inflating our tires. I think it's pretty brave of her to take the high road and avoid doing the popular thing in favor of the smart thing. Oh wait, to you, it's only brave and maverickish when republicans do it. My bad.

Besides, don't you think its hypocritical for Filibusterpublicans to whine about a party majority blocking legislation after the 90's fiascoes?

On the other hand...Let me hear more about 'tax cuts for the rich', Mr. Obama. Because I was under the impression that it was 'tax cuts for everyone'.

Though the two are hardly comparable, I'm sure...

1. The difference between a single person with no dependents earning $42,000 and a family earning $42,000 is quite large.
2. It was voted on in part of a provisional budget that never got enacted.
3. It is in no way part of his proposed tax plan; his plan actually features significantly larger tax cuts than McCain's for all people making under $100,000.

Again, this needs to be posted in every single tax thread:
i291.photobucket.com

Can you honestly look at that and then say that McCain's claims that he's going to raise taxes on struggling lower to middle class families aren't complete bullshiat designed to obfuscate the fact that McCain's plan is worse for them and great for the wealthy?

One F Jef 2008-08-09 08:08:01 PM

So Obama's tax plan is better simply because the majority of farkers will pay less taxes whereas McCain's tax cut cuts taxes for everyone? I don't see how the government is entitled to 1/3rd (roughly) more of the earning on those making 2.9 million. Granted they won't become destitute, but since when has the government ever shown it is better at deciding how one's income can be taxed?

McCain said that Obama 'once voted for a provision that would have raised taxes', not that this was his current policy. Typical fearmongering, but can you blame McCain? Republicans have been vote-buying for 30 years and now a Dem is coming in undercutting their message. That's gotta suck!

The subject is how McCain blatantly lied about Obama's tax plan, why don't you talk about that? Oh wait, because it's unspinnable and makes McCain look like shiat.

IMO we should raise taxes. We've been spending money like a teenager with a stolen credit card over the past few years and we need to pay the bills. Sorry, you all voted for a dumbass who cut taxes without cutting spending, now you have to pay the price.

"Cutting taxes for everyone" doesn't mean very much when a whole hell of a lot of people are getting $19 tax cuts. That's reason enough to start dealing drugs.

In a new sign of increasing inequality in the U.S., the richest 1% of Americans in 2006 garnered the highest share of the nation's adjusted gross income for two decades, and possibly the highest since 1929, according to Internal Revenue Service data.

I'm still a little skeptical about the theory of relative poverty as opposed to absolute povery. If the bottom rung, worst-off people in society were living comfortably, why would it matter what the people at the top were making? The idea that there is a disparity in and of itself isn't a inherently a bad thing.

Yeah, he just mentioned that Obama voted for this provision, then falsely claimed that he promises to raise taxes on families, small businesses and seniors. That's not deceptive and lying and at all.

MyRandomName: So Obama's tax plan is better simply because the majority of farkers will pay less taxes whereas McCain's tax cut cuts taxes for everyone? If McCain thinks that way then then, put that out there and let the people decide which they like better. But it is obvious that he realizes that the vast majority of the population isn't going to like the fact that the top 1% get a much larger tax decrease from his plan than the bottom 99% do, and that they actually get a larger decrease from Obama's plan, so he goes out there and misleads the public about Obama's plan instead of giving some straight talk about his own.

log_jammin: Ah yes...what was it you said..."a family of 4 who makes 45k will only pay 300 in taxes and that's just not fair!"

I said they'd pay $0 under Obama, which I think is a little unfair. Why should the single people and high income earners supply everything for the bottom 50%? I mean, that seems just a little, well, wrong.

And that doesn't even get into the whole deficits issues...

If everyone were moving up then I don't think it would be much of a problem. The thing is, the top 1% have improved greatly, while the rest of the country has seen real wages remain stagnant, the price of food and gas go up, a wave of home forclosures and the unemployment rate increase. I don't think that even you can play devil's advocate here and say that things have gotten better for all of us.
