Actually, they bring up illegals to guard and tend the grows. They do it in Oregon too, in the remote areas. These are armed camps of illegals sent up by the Mexican drug cartels doing this. It really pisses me off too and I like ganja. Seriously, I never go into the woods unarmed. We've had several people killed stumbling over these grow ops.

Ditto. Hell, legalize pot for home use only and criminalize tobacco, save for home use. Most of the country would be happier, healthier, and wealthier.

Basing the amount of respect you are going to give someone on whether they smoke a naturally growing herb or not is really shallow and ignorant. So I don't have much respect for someone who holds such a dense point of view.

I used to have this same position, but when you think about it, it's all about degrees. I like the devil's lettuce, but my girlfriend doesn't (in fact, she doesn't like me or anyone doing it).
How can smoking this naturally growing thing make her so mad, I would think to myself.
Then I realized, however, that if she did cocaine or some other drug, it would definitely be a turn-off for me. So it's all about degrees. At least we are finally getting to the generation where people realize that just because they don't like it, they shouldn't make it illegal. Give it 20 years and I think we have a good chance at buying fatties at a 7-11 (inside the store from the clerk, not from some peddler by the dumpster).

Side note, think about someone who does crack. Even if they weren't bums or slobs, they probably wouldn't be really great party-guests. And I can honestly say that I can't imagine myself having to much respect for them, mainly because they do crack.

/Imagine the small-talk they would make...

Depends on the strain... I could set two different strains in front of you and they would affect you differently. One would keep you alert, yet comfortably buzzed and the other one would stimulate hunger and act as a very good pain killer. The first one you could smoke repeatedly and keep your mental alertness, the second is gonna knock you out for nappy time within an hour.

Sure seems like there is a lot of time, money & effort going into "fighting" pot... but it sounds like its use and cultivation is just expanding. Oh, and there is the irrevocable damage law enforcement under prohibition causes individuals & families... all for a substance that has been shown to be far less dangerous than alcohol. Oh... and then there's all of that lost tax revenue for the govt. and the untapped medicinal values.... hmmmm.

But then... Barbara Bush told us it was bad, so I guess that settles it.

I have a friend that is a licensed medical marijuana grower, we took down one that produced 22 ounces of dried "flowers"... You do the math. People that care about what they ingest, take care of the plants they produce to be healthy and safe... No poisons. Just like the garden where you grow your tomatoes, you want it healthy and safe to ingest. If you take care to learn from the right sources for the right reasons, you can produce winners too.

/Never do it for the money.

The way people I know and their pot-porn magazines talk about weed, you'd think it was wine. "It's got hints of citrus!" they say, "Feel how mellow that comes on?" I just nod and inhale.

On the other hand, it doesn't make sense to grow anything but grapes in a vineyard. It just makes the wine taste bitter and attracts fungi (and not the beneficial "noble rot", either). That's true of any leafy plant, though. And the vines have large enough roots and take enough out of the soil that there won't be much left to keep the pot healthy.

Pot also doesn't thrive in the same conditions that grapes do.

Still does for me (well, a lil better than that- what used to be called "midi") The stuff a few posts up can contain as much as 30% THC, as opposed to the older stuff maxing out around 3-5%.

RawData: Is this another propaganda piece to justify kicking down your doors and killing your dogs

I think so. Last night on the news they had a story about federal and state agents using helicopters to find outdoor grow operations. They would have two agents hanging from a rope beneath the chopper land right in the middle of the camp, while ground agents came in at the same time. Some flying cops even had dogs with them.

Here's a video.

Anyhow, it's harvest time so the news and cops start putting out these stories to show how tough on pot they are. Farking waste of money if you ask me.
