I think someone's chain is being tugged.

Are they in any way associated with "Bad Guys Talent Management Agency?"

I don't think the little person in the picture is ugly, but she is the meat between two slices of ugly bread.

No, these guys really exist. A friend of mine does a bunch of extra work (with a regular agency) and she came across some of them at a Law & Order shoot. The extras from UglyNY were all punked out with lots of tattoos & facial hardware, like something out of Jim Rose's Circus.

Who the hell says that some of the quote-unquote models are top class? Some of them look like 3rd world starving childen from Africa.

I do agree with logruszed . The little one isn't bad.

I noticed there's a wide variety in the types of men, but almost all the females are still on the very thin side.

My friend Dorothy Schmidt (if you can find her) works for UglyNY. The point isn't that they're all 'ugly', per se, its just that they have a huge range of people. It's less for fashion (though she has her aspirations) and more for commercials and advertisements when what they want isn't someone beautiful but Joe Schmoey or even downright weird.

Good idea, my book.

The thing is, most of the women they showed in the slide show are still thin, attractive women. The men, however were a wonderful show of humanity. :D

Everytime I see a model or open up a fashion magazine I have come to the conclusion that models either have to be really ugly or have that unique HOT look. For supermodels, they have to be tall, have a great body and have a smoking hot face which takes up 2% of the population.

/I think what this agency doing is great!

The website is even better. They really do have a variety of people, and that's refreshing. I might send my picture in to see what happens.

farm machine 2008-08-09 03:12:33 PM
Hello!!!! Just hang around the green room of the Dr. Phil, Judge Judy, Maury Povich or Cheaters show. Those will readily provide you with a life time full of ugly.

Nakito 2008-08-09 03:16:11 PM
In the acting world, the term is "grotesque." It is a longstanding genre for character actors with unusual looks.

If you have seen the Woody Allen movie "Stardust Memories," you might recall that the entire "I'm on the wrong train" scene was populated by grotesques.

/Woody might be a grotesque himself, now that I think about it.

as someone who's done a fair amount of photography, I know that any decently skilled photographer can make anyone look good.

It's a question of angle and lighting.

hershmire 2008-08-09 03:51:28 PM
If you look at the "Talent" portion of their website, they don't have a lot of ugly people (and even then they aren't that ugly). Methinks it's just a marketing ploy and this "journalist" fell for it.

I wouldn't call him "ugly", but I'd certainly have trouble concentrating in a meeting if he were sitting across from me.

Trick E. Dick 2008-08-09 04:26:07 PM
I have several heavily tattooed friends who are signed with UglyNY, and I was asked to join up with them myself.

What they're doing is pretty smart. There's plenty of attractive people out there, but what happens when you need a guy with a tattooed face for the background shot of something? Good luck finding that without something like UglyNY in place.

JonnyBGoode 2008-08-09 04:26:49 PM
Fifi Le Pew: I wouldn't call him "ugly", but I'd certainly have trouble concentrating in a meeting if he were sitting across from me.

Dude looks like an albino vampire or something. Or one of the Kanamits in To Serve Man, only with hair.

And what's ugly about 1, 4, 6, and 13?

Taila82 2008-08-09 05:03:44 PM
So, I think that number 9 may be a vampire. I bet he's only available after sunset. Hope no one cuts themselves, it may turn into a blood bath...

1, 4, 6, 8, 13, 26.

Come to Chicago and stand at the corner of Foster and Clark... they've got hundreds more just like #8.

That's one of many things I miss about Chicago: the geek girls who are just hot enough to not be out of my league. Of course, I know Minneapolis has a ton of them, but I haven't figured out where they hang out yet.
