1. McCain understands the economic problems of ordinary Americans. Barack Obama does not.

"The issue of economics is not something I've understood as well as I should," McCain said.

Uh....

McCain needs to convey three ideas:

1. McCain understands the economic problems of ordinary Americans. Barack Obama does not.
2. McCain understands that the situation is urgent.
3. McCain's "Jobs for America" plan is superior.

Oh. Well, there you have it.

I love the way his economic plan is all about conveying that he understands, without saying anything about whether he actually understands.

I cannot take any article seriously that has ads about "DrugDealerCindyMcCain". It's a bunch of pro-weed douchebags biatching about the fact she has a stake in a beer company.

Wouldn't it be a draft, as in the military type. Hence, since we're going to war, we're going to need alot more soldiers.

If McCain actually uses the words "Economic Surge" I'm going to puke in my mouth.

I surprise even myself with how much my disdain for this man for whom I once volunteered has grown.

Wtf, okay.. this is starting to just get silly. Someone submits an article about someone who rants on McCain (the whole war war war tax cuts thing) backed up by a memo on how to focus on the economy for McCain's campaign.

I hate to break it to most of you, but I guarantee both candidates plan is to "say their plan is better than the other". That's how campaigns are won. I'm sure Obama has the same memo stating "make your plans seem better than McCain's".

Did this really just get greenlit because the author of the article created a huge strawman that had nothing to do with the memo that was supposedly leaked?

hubiestubert [TotalFark] 2008-08-08 11:35:12 AM
A man who's never held a job in the private sector understands "my pain"?

The man doesn't understand what his own state is going through, yet he's going to understand what the nation's economy is suffering?

MyRandomName: Did this really just get greenlit because the author of the article created a huge strawman that had nothing to do with the memo that was supposedly leaked?

No, it was greenlit for two reasons: 1) the modmins like flamewar-inducing threads, and 2) Everyone loves posting pictures of McCain. I mean, look at the thumbs-up picture that oldfarthenry posted up there. I don't care which 'side' you're on, that shiat's hilarious.

Cinaed 2008-08-08 11:39:10 AM
Not to be a smartass...

But what exactly 'is' McCain's plan regarding the economy?
I mean, there has to be some kind of more specific idea other than applying the 'Surge' mentality to the economy, as that makes my head hurt with logic battling it out with the stupid.

Wendy's Chili 2008-08-08 11:45:04 AM
Cinaed: Not to be a smartass...

1. Barack Obama is a job-killing machine
2. Gubmint is too big, Obama wants to grow it
3. Taxes are too high, Obama wants to raise them and kill jobs
4. Veto pork bills and make them famous (whatever the fark that means
5. I didn't understand before I understood
6. Barack Obama doesn't understand
7. My friends

soy_bomb: (new window)

Uh, FTFA: McCain has received three times more money from the oil industry in general -- $1.3 million for McCain compared to approximately $394,000 for Obama

Yeah, it's OBAMA that's in the pocket of the oil companies.

By fiscal conservative, they mean letting rich people pay no taxes, regardless of the fiscal picture of the U.S.

soy_bomb: Silly Article

This proves what, exactly? That McCain got three times more money from Exxon itself? I sincerely misunderstand the importance of this stat:

"Through June, Exxon employees have given Obama $42,100 to McCain's $35,166. Chevron favors Obama $35,157 to $28,500, and Obama edges out McCain with BP $16,046 vs. $11,500."

equating oil company EMPLOYEES with the oil companies. How interested are you in the success of your company when you're not at work, 8-5? All this means is that Obama has more pull with ordinary people (independent donors), and McCain has more pull (3x as much) with special interests.

It's funny to get less information? The fark headline might be funny, but the article was as lame as anything else from wonkette. I can't believe people can seriously make money doing this. It's one thing to do it in your livejournal.

sky cat 2008-08-08 12:08:50 PM
Dancin_In_Anson: samimgreen: Who do you think pays the vast majority of taxes?

for the first time in decades, and perhaps ever, the richest 1% of tax filers will have paid more than 40% of the income tax burden. The top 50% will account for 97% of all federal income taxes, while the bottom 50% will have paid just 3%

Totally distorted. I'd note their window starts with Reganomics.

It's not the first time evar, and that's blatant anti-middle-class propaganda.

Shaggy_C 2008-08-08 12:12:31 PM
Meh, I'm not particularly convinced McCain really wants more wars.

And his tax cuts are only slightly more unsavory than Obama's.

timmy_the_tooth [TotalFark] 2008-08-08 12:14:31 PM
moothemagiccow: It's funny to get less information?

no, it's funny because there is a deep, deep irony in the McCain candidacy: the maverick who supports every failed economic, domestic, social, and foreign policy that the Bush administration ever touted.

it's funny because I'm already informed and I like to take a break from that information, relax, and have a laugh at something that I know is meant to be a joke.

in fact, it's MORE funny the more you know.

but don't let that get in the way, you obviously have a bone to pick. you should take your complaints about how uninformative Fark is all the way to the boss...

i'm sure they'll see the errors of their ways.

xbattlewax 2008-08-08 12:20:33 PM
I can't stand McCain but the shiatty blog could have at least gone into a little more detail.

I will be so happy when the election is over, that way I know who to aim my hate at. It's hard splitting the hate between 2 people.
