This is just a right-wing paper's attack on a local political opponent. They give their own guy a quote but don't even ask the subject of the article why he's ditching the debate.

Also, subby, Bucks isn't "Pennsyltucky". It's suburban Philly. "Pennsyltucky is basically everything between the Philadelphia area and the Pittsburgh area.

Yeah, this is a pretty lame greenlight. But you've got to give the Republicans something to crow about mindlessly once in a while, what with their dim prospect for the next few years. They can have this one.

You might find this a little tough to grasp, but some folks are more concerned w/ their finances than their carbon footprint.

I like how the blogger claims Murphy was 'mistakenly' elected, all because somebody decided it would be a good idea to count the votes from ALL of the election precincts in the district instead of just the ones that voted Republican. Seriously?

Murphy is well respected by both Dems and Repubs in the district, as his ability to raise astouding amounts of money for his re-election bid demonstrates. He's not going anywhere anytime soon.

'The country is on the road to electing an untested radical socialist to its highest office. We sit back and watch as terrorists captured on the battlefield are given the same rights as American citizens. We sit back and watch as the Democrat Congress drives us further down toward economic despair. We sit back and watch as energy prices skyrocket, sitting on top of more oil than exists in the entire Middle East combined while liberals tell us to sit and wait for some pipe dream energy source that may or may not be invented sometime down the road.'

wow...just...wow

You say "wow . . . just . . . wow." I say "Just listen to Hannity any day on the radio and you will get this exact quote several times, though it will be sprinkled with 'unrepentant' terrorist', 'Rev. Wright,' and 'Michelle Oabama isn't proud of her country.'"

I flip through every now and then. Every single time, Hannity is saying the exact same thing. I'd say I tune in for about 10 minutes about 2-3 times a week. And he is saying the exact same thing every day. It boggles my mind that anyone could listen to Hannity 3 hours a day everyday. But there are a lot of people that do. It has to be exceedingly boring. I think some people feed off the negativity. At least Rush, who I also don't like but tune into for a few minutes a week, says different things most days.

The is a difference between making fun of the problem and being part of the problem. Seems like to me that people here have moved from the first to the 2nd.

What this blogger fails to mention is that the zucchini races at this farmers market are held every Thursday night. So now, doesn't it seem odd that when Congressman Murphy had his pick of Thursdays to judge the zucchini races--he chose the Thursday of the proposed energy debate. Nice. You don't want to debate? Don't debate. But say so. Don't just punk out and go to a zucchini race instead.

furiousxgeorge [TotalFark] 2008-08-07 06:35:03 PM
On a side note, my dad is a republican here in Bucks, he grows a ton of zucchini in his vegetable garden, he pledged to support Murphy for the first time on the news that he would be attending this event.

Looks like Murphy made the right choice!

The blogger is pasting a press release from Murphy's opponent.

In American politics, winners never want debates. They're already winning, and only stand to lose and have nothing to gain. This is true of Republicans, Democrats, liberals and conservatives. It pretty much applies across the board. Whining about it sounds like some third-rate contender biatching that the champ won't fight him.
Want a debate? Campaign diligently, get your numbers up even with your opponent, and you'll have created a situation where he stands to gain something by debating you - and you'll get your debate. and while you're at it, try to refrain from hypocritically implying that you'd do any different is you were in his position.
Fact is, this asshole has no chance, is going to get crushed, and knows it. This is just a whining point.
