Being stuck on a boat with a cover band. How fun.

"no actual Floyd members will board the ship"

I'll pass. You fail.

The Australian Pink Floyd is the only real Pink Floyd cover band in my mind. Great concept, terrible execution.

As long as said cover band is not Luther Wright and the Wrongs, it might be fun. Given enough weed.

EVERY cruise ship has a cheesy cover band, so what's the big deal.

I was once on a dinner boat in S. Korea, and there was a Ukrainian band there playing songs by Elvis. Weird, but they did a decent job, actually.

I look forward to the day when my age group is in its mid fifties, and then we'll have our countercultural entertainment merged with cruise ships and package vacations.

They usually vary the mix a little.

But, now that I think of it, it would be a little bit awesome if they covered "Several Species of Small Furry Animals Gathered Together in a Cave and Grooving with a Pict".

I take it you've never been on a cruise ship?

The Beatles were going to do a cruise ship concert, but wisely chose the roof instead.

We all knew Paul went overboard, but there was no reason to make it any worse.

The Machine is the best Floyd tribute band in the U.S.

ummmm.... i went to their myspace... and the music is alright for the most part... [except cheesy fake keyboardy horns in "Comfortably Numb", etc.] but the vocalist just rubs me the wrong way.... [shudder]...[especially on "Fletcher memorial home"] i almost can't get past it...
i guess to each their own...

there was one or two really really good PF cover bands on youtube [rog era or rog and later dave era anyway]but i'm too lazy to find them.

The ONLY thing worse than a tribute band is a Guitar Center employee.

I can picture being on a cruise ship in the middle of the ocean full of shrooms or acid smoking a joint listening to Floyd and looking at the stars. But I'd take a good sound system and the original music over a cover band.

If it was the real Pink Floyd? Yeah, I'd pay huge amounts of money to be there.

Say what you want about John Mayer, but at least he goes on his own damn cruise.

Comfortably Numb is Canada's touring cover band. I saw them years ago and I enjoyed it more than actually seeing Floyd in '87. Their lineup might of changed since then. They have some Youtube videos and it looked to me they switched singers and the new guy sucks.

he doesn't sound like Roger or David, it's true. But he has the guitar chops. They also have this new keyboard player who's about 22 years old who is unreal. Definitely worth checking out

This seems a little absurd for a band responsible for "money", "Brick in the Wall", and numerous others with anti-establishment undertones.

I don't think that Carnival Cruises, Kiqstart Music or Think Floyd USA are responsible for the songs you're referring to...

A Pink Floyd cruise ship in 2008 and they're not going to the total solar eclipse? How disappointing.

I wonder how much fun it is after the big bust - drug dogs for people boarding.

I went on a cruise once with 4 local bands, LSD and lots of ganja. Tripping on a cruise ship is a trip.

"will be the subject of their very own themed cruise, even though no actual Floyd members will board the ship. "The Great Gig in the Sea" (like Dark Side's "Great Gig in the Sky," but aquatic). DUUUUUH! Thanks for the clarification there Captain Obvious.

"If you're a Floyd fan, you'd be as crazy as Syd Barrett to miss it."

Who hires people that write like this?
