i will never forgive him for playing the godamned ACCORDION onstage with the Dead. He had some stellar shows in his time with the Dead, but goddamn, I hate that freaking accordion.

I've seen him a few times in Williamsburg, always enjoyable. Talented guy.

My ex-wife played the piano to concert level...so...I don't like piano players all that much.

I'm a piano player who's learning the accordion, and have played onstage with both Vince Welnick and Melvin Seals, so I got a kick out of this reply.

That clarinet player in the "Valley Road" video always creeped me out.

Sure, the guy did some cheesy, VH-1 suitable pop in the '80s, but he actually puts on a pretty good live show. No set lists -- he puts a box at the front of the stage, and anyone who wants to request a song throws a slip of paper with the name on it in the box. He'll usually play whatever he pulls out, which is not an easy thing if you've got a decent-size repertoire. Shows have a cool, laid-back feel, but he can absolutely rip it up on the piano if need be.

I saw him once with the Dead. It felt like a 30-45 min. version of "That's just the way it is".

/Get a job.

The crappy thing about this is now that the venue moved it's no longer free, or outdoors. Bruce for free, I'm there. Bruce for $25? Meh

Noodles?

Just a guess...remember meeting Vince at the Sail once. It's a shame that place closed.

Free your mind from the old stereotypes. The accordion is a very cool instrument. Check out Buckwheat Zydeco to see someone rocking on accordion. Or, check out this guy playing Hendrix:
