Will they be able to remember their PIN numbers when they go to the ATM machine?

Nothing good can come of this.

So are these idiots really serious when they say they are communist? How does that work?

HappyHarryHardOn: are these idiots really serious when they say they are communist? How does that work?

They go to the same city that is hosting the convention of the political party that is supposedly controlled by greed and charge $60 a head for the privilege of watching them play.

OMG I'M RAGING SO MUCH RIGHT NOW GRRRR!!! CHE GUEVARA!!!

Rage will be in town the night after the Paultards.

Think I'll stay Northeast of downtown that weekend.

F*ck.

Will Alan Keyes be crowd surfing again?

moralpanic 2008-08-05 07:01:33 PM
Um, is this for real? I know Cheney won't be there, but will Bush?

And btw, does RATM know they're playing at the RNC?

RATM have silly, hypocritical political views. But I enjoy their music and would go seem them if I had $60 to spend.

And then the Democrats will say that everyone that showed up for the RNC was really there to see Rage.

/at least, I will.

Not sure if that's a rotsky.

Anyhoo, there a band in ABQ, NM called Rage Against Martin Sheen. Awesome name- sucky band.

Andross01 2008-08-05 07:06:22 PM
Wait a second....is the RNC actually going on that day, or is it just that it happens to be in the same week? Either way, misleading headline is misleading.

/pretty sneaky sis.

ravenlore [TotalFark] 2008-08-05 07:06:36 PM
Oh. at the Target Center.

Meh.

/if they were playing the Myth, i'd be all over that

mrexcess [TotalFark] 2008-08-05 07:06:42 PM
Sony-brand communists. They probably have a better political message than Cheney, and I like some of their songs, but you have to admit that that shiat is kinda lol.

It wouldn't be ironic, because RATM, like the current republican party, are a bunch of corporate sellouts.

There's a Far Side cartoon to represent the perfect analogy.

Psychohazard 2008-08-05 07:08:05 PM
At first I'm thinking this is going to turn out like Steve Colbert at the White House Press Circle Jerk.

Then I RTFA. Less interesting than what I imagined.

Just to clarify folks the article's headline is correct. RATM will play at the Republican National Committee (RNC) convention...

Fark you I won't do what you tell me

Motherfarrrrrrkers!!!!

Unh! unh! unh!

Yeah, that'll be awesomeness.

Pochas 2008-08-05 07:10:10 PM
It's those silly republicans mixing up their rock bands (they're not big fans.) They meant to have Pink Floyd singing "Welcome to the Machine."

In the context that filth was going for, it's a definite Rotsky.

didn't they do this before?

/Love RATM

guilt by association 2008-08-05 07:14:42 PM
Hmmm, didn't they play at the democratic convention back in 2000 while everyone rioted?

Aexia 2008-08-05 07:15:57 PM
Pochas: It's those silly republicans mixing up their rock bands

In Washington State, we don't have Republicans - we have members of the "GOP Party".

thomps [TotalFark] 2008-08-05 07:16:19 PM
remember in 1999 when they put out a video that showed how bush and gore were pretty much the same politician? it's funny how 7 years later they are basically indirectly campaigning for the dems.

/still likes rage
//chose to see wilco on saturday instead

Calvin Coolidge 2008-08-05 07:18:51 PM
Wait, are they actually playing as an event at the convention? TFA isn't really clear.

Moses To Sandy Koufax: It wouldn't be ironic, because RATM, like the current republican party, are a bunch of corporate sellouts.

How is that? By never appearing courtesy of a record label. I have never seen RATM courtesy of Sony BMG on any Album/soundtrack. Care to point it out where you have seen it?

You need a distribution label. Sony knew RATM had their own terms and wasn't going to go along with the normal BS but Sony also knew how many Records RATM was going to move no matter who they are under.

I guess that is officially the weekend when irrelevance reigns in Minneapolis?

Someone should call Yakov Smirnoff and the tall ugly/beautiful chick from "3rd Rock From The Sun."

It's not as stupid as it sounds. GOP now means Gay Old Politicians, so party is still appropriate to add.

Bag of Hammers [recently expired TotalFark] 2008-08-05 07:23:07 PM
So between between McCain at Sturgis and now RATM at the convention, the RNC seems to have sewed up the Giant Douchebag vote.

Calvin Coolidge: Wait, are they actually playing as an event at the convention? TFA isn't really clear.

TFA: Political rap-rock giants Rage Against the Machine will give a rare performance at Target Center in Minneapolis on Sept. 3, which not so coincidentally is the same week as the Republican National Convention in St. Paul. Tickets go on sale Saturday at 10 a.m. for $60.

The actual convention will be at the Xcel Energy Center so no, they won't be at the same place.

Ironically, according to Wikipedia, the Target Center can actually fill more people than the Xcel Center. It would be pretty funny if Rage ends up drawing the bigger turnout.

Saw Rage saturday, thought it was the best performance of the weekend. I did think it was funny they were playing on the AT&T stage.

Rage Against the Machine to play during RNC convention

What better place than here. What better time than now.

everyone i talk to says they put on a killer show, i was just too tired to deal with a rage crowd that night. chilled out and watched wilco play some old fashioned rock and roll and saved my energy for girl talk and kanye.

I wonder if they will charge at the DNC? I don't think they did in 2000.

Interesting how so many intelligent Farkers confuse the word "during" with "at."

itsallabouttime 2008-08-05 07:35:30 PM
Rage is playing at the Target Center the day after Ron Paul's Rally for the Republic.

This is separate from the RNC convention.

i remember on my first day at fark orientation i was told that one should never ever rtfa, and should only afford a passing glance at the headline before forming and adamantly defending an opinion.

/also there was a mini-seminar on why lolcats are funny
