As airlines cut costs corners this is going to be more common, as will crashes.

TheSignPost 2008-08-05 01:21:21 PM
We're about due for another major airline catastrophe. Been quite a few "near misses" and "angry psychos wrestling to open the door at 30,000 feet" incidents.

Stay tuned.

PLEASE somebody explain to me why we can bring 4 3oz. bottles of liquid on a plane, but not 1 12 oz. bottle?? WHY??

Also, if Southwest will let me jump on an earlier flight for free, why does Delta charge me $100 if I want to do that? WHY??

ALSO, .... (could go on forever)

But flying is so relaxing! Just sitting up there, a couple thousand feet above the ground at a high speed rate. It's fun to look out the window at the clouds as they pass on by. You can meet new people too! Easy to start up a conversation with the guy next to you, maybe ask him why he feels ill and is perspiring and coughing a lot?

I wonder if the fees and general angst of modern flying has created a new psychosis among the flying population - maybe that's why so many asshats attack exit doors these days.

And in one thread up we've got seats dislodging during flight.

The smoke in the cabin thing reminds me of our flight from Ft. Stewart to Kuwait. We were taking some C-5s from a Germany stopover to Kuwait and smoke started filling the passenger area, so we turned around and landed again. About 6 hours later we re-boarded and took off. I asked one of the crew what was causing the smoke. His reply? "what smoke?"

You've got nothing to worry about. A trans-pacific flight operated by a U.S. flag carrier has NEVER crashed in the modern aviation era. You're totally safe.
