I know its wishful thinking, but perhaps this means we're going to see the waning of corporate ownership of record labels because it has ceased to be profitable for the greedheads. It's clear that the industry has been on a downward spiral for myriad reasons, the main one IMHO, is giant conglomerates such as Bertelsmann demanding quarterly profits and pretty much eliminating the concept of Artist Development. As a result we see disposable artists who only exist to copycat current trends---here today, gone tomorrow. The majority of truly original artists with fresh ideas get ignored so to make room for 20 versions of The Killers or Fallout Boy. (who blow in the first place) The music industry has suffered because of this mandatory short-sightedness. Please let this be the beginning of the end of that era. (pffft. I know it's a pipe dream...)

Not until a Sony exec hangs for it as a warning to others.

It's not cool when some ID-thieving punk from Eastern Europe does it, so I don't see why a multinational corporation should get a free pass.
