His name is George Michael! It's a shame that Andrew Ridgeley overshadowed George Michael's post-Wham! career with his lucrative surfing equipment business and anti-sewage environmental activism.

At least people exist who can still name Dave Stewart, and know he didn't pitch for the A's.

\4th grade, we had a substitute teacher for half the year, she put a Wham poster up in our classroom. Still wondering why....

Dave Stewart kicks ass. Nothing away from Annie Lennox, who is an incredible vocalist, but Dave Stewart is no musical slouch, subby.

fwiw, i like Dave Stewart and was just using a comedic analogy to Ridgely, who is obviously not in the same league.

Welcome Garfunkel, Messina, Oates, and Lisa singing their number two hit, "Born to Runner-up"....

Actually Dave Stewart is awesome. Always assumed he was the talent and Annie Lennox was the look

It does if you are in a Goth club at about 2:45 AM in the morning, listening to the last song to dance to before the bouncers kick your arse out. Either Sweet Dreams or Here Comes the Rain again, always comes up at that time.

I wonder if his new stuff will be as earth-shattering as his "Platinum Weird" crap a few years ago. That fake rockumentary was so lame.

If Fox News were around, they'd make a national case out of such an incident.

Are we talking about Dave Stewart, keyboardist from Bruford and National Health, or Dave Stewart, guitarist from the 1978 incarnation of the Steve Hillage Band (later Mark Knophler's guitar tech), Dave Stewart who I think was a drummer for Camel, or Dave Stewart who was arrested with a transvestite prostitute named Lucille when he pitched for Texas, or that dude with no chin who sang with that chick with the Marty Feldman eyes?

It's a potluck thread I guess.

One of my wife's co-workers kept going on an on about how he thought I looked like Dave Stewart, which, if you squint your eyes enough, then, yeah, maybe. As a joke, I printed out a color photo of Dave S., autographed it and sent it to him. He cherishes it to this day

Subby, get a clue. Dave Stewart is an extremely talented singer/songwriter/producer. He is no Andrew Ridgely.

Prefer his work with Annie taking center stage, but he's not too bad without her.

Definitely. I do prefer the Eurythmics stuff to his solo work, as well.

I liked him better as a nerdy keyboardist for Bill Bruford, before he dreamed up his ridiculous "rock" persona.

Funny, I was listening to "The Rotter's Club" this morning while driving to Guthrie, Oklahoma. RIP Pip Pyle.

They had more than 20 top-40 hits in the UK, four platinum albums, three double platinum, and one 6x platinum. Just what is it going to take to please you?

Honestly, I have always been all right with him up until I heard he was working with Bon Jovi.
As it were, I still heart Annie Lennox.

How can you go wrong with that voice, and that face?

Melody_Nelson 2008-08-05 09:22:10 PM
Uninterestingly enough, Dave Stewart was married to Sioban Fahey of Bananarama while Andrew Ridgely is (was?) married to Keren Woodward also of Bananarama.

The moral here is don't saddle yourself to some chickie from some lousy band that sounds like it's in need of a lead singer.

I suppose the other moral is don't memorize ancillary crap from the 80s.

Wonderduck 2008-08-06 01:15:32 AM
Andrew Ridgely has more talent in his right pinky than Subby has in his entire left big toe.

/got nuthin'
