Actually, I'm pretty sure the LAGQ had everything on that. Plus one. They were all over that like a fat girl on a twinkie.

Gnarly find subby

If Pachelbel was alive today he would roll over in his grave.

/Yogi Berra told me to say that

Oops sorry, my last post didn't convey my actual opinion on the video. I always love this kind of stuff. This version is really cool.

I just wonder if Pachelbel would appreciate it, being from a few centuries ago.

DarthBrooks [TotalFark] 2008-08-05 12:50:30 AM
Pachelbel's Canon in D is to stringed instruments what Fur Elise and Heart & Soul are to pianos.

Namely, played endlessly until someone crushes the fingers of the performer.

I'll see you in hell Pachelbel!

I'd get up and yell "FREEBIRD!" but unfortunately that song is the same chord progression, too.

Exquisite! This is the sort of amazing performance that makes me stand up and cheer! And also it makes me wish I'd not given up on playing the tuba in high school. Pachelbel performed by a tuba quartet would ROCK THE HOUSE!

That was extremely 'white'. 'White' as in 'no sense of rhythm or tempo'. How is it possible to screw up the tempo on this piece? That's all it is! Tempo and a tedious chord cycle.

I watched enough of it. They hammed it up, and made it seem like they were doing a Reggae version of it. It was horrible.

For all who didn't enjoy this, I suggest you go listen to "My Hummps" repeatedly.

That is all.

*sigh*
Yes I did, Marla. Yes I did. And I liked it. I liked it so much that I saved the link so I could show it to my parents. And I really did play the tuba. And I really would have loved to try and make the song into a brass piece.

You're on my favorites list (yellow 1), so I won't tell you to shut up. But I'm thinking it as hard as I can.

OMG, I read your comment and said to myself "What is he talking about?" And then I got to the part you are referring to.

Also, I wanted to share a clip from a concert I saw in Paris, inside the Sainte-Chapelle.

One morning, not too long ago, I experienced Taco Bell's Cannon.

It was considerably less sombre than Pachelbel's Canon, and actually rather upbeat sounding.

I suspect he would. After all, a canon is basically a bunch of variations on a theme. If people developed new and interesting variations, he'd probably dig it.

/Mozart would love it when people do it to him
//Handel, too

OK, we all know that this song is over done...but you like it (secretly or publicly) and we all know that that is probably the most commonly used chord progression in the history of pop music since he put it on paper, but..............come one!

You had to at least enjoyed hearing that, even if you like another rendition more, that was fun and entertaining and played by good guitar players....admit it!

lazario 2008-08-06 01:24:18 AM
okay, DarthBrooks' link to Pachelbel rant was exactly what I have been trying to show my non instrument playing friends. All pop musicians have at least one (maybe more) song that is Canon or a simplified version of that chord structure. Sometimes the order was different, but the intervals...always the same.

Win, Win, Win darth. I love me some Canon. After all these years of trying to illustrate the similarities between all these songs, I finally realized that most of my friend are not musicians.
