"Only celebrities like Barack Obama go to the gym three times a day, demand 'MET-RX chocolate roasted-peanut protein bars and bottles of a hard-to-find organic brew-Black Forest Berry Honest Tea' and worry about the price of arugula."

And McCain drinks Bud Light and eats at McDonald's?

ZAZ [TotalFark] 2008-08-03 02:50:45 PM
I will not vote for any candidate who is rumored to eat arugula.

Since McCain didn't actually say it, it's more likely that you're insane.

We have two good candidates, for the first time in years. What they have in common most of all, though, is idiot campaign staffers.

I'm trying to believe that's the limit of it, too.

I'm voting for McCain & I really like arugula. Especially with a olive oil & lemon vinegarette over a nice piece of swordfish. Mmmmmmmm.

I wonder if McCain likes pretzels.

I love how the guy that has been in a few movies as himself, has his own IMDb page, mooches off his millionaire trophy wife, built his entire life by being an Admiral's son, and has several houses that he flies to in his wife's company's jet is calling a black man that grew up without a father and worked his own way up through Chicago a celebrity.

And don't forget elitist!

Somehow the polls are still close, so I guess this idiotic line of attack is kind of working for McCain.

I work for a living, so I don't need to go to a gym. (Do need to cut back on the junk food though.)

adamgreeney 2008-08-03 03:29:09 PM
Um, Honest Tea isn't that hard to find. And it kicks all kinds of ass.

And yeah, going to the gym is just HORRIBLE! How could we vote for someone that works out?!

It started off boring and slow with Not Sure Obama trying to bullshiat everyone with a bunch of smart talk: 'Blah blah blah. You gotta believe me!' That part of the trial sucked!

Mugato [TotalFark] 2008-08-03 03:30:41 PM
The sad thing is that was his answer to the question, "How do you feel about outsourcing jobs overseas?".

He has a Christopher Walken sense for the non-sequiter.

"So Mr. Walken, what is your next project?"
"Frankenstein never scared me."
"I see. What was it like working with Robert DeNiro?"
"But marsupials do."
"I---"
"...because they're FAST."

/pollack ftw

I take everything their representatives say as if they said it themselves. The alternative is that they have no control over their staff and that they're puppets. Which is probably true but I give the benefit of the doubt.

Reagan was a celebrity, so this whole "he's not gonna be a good president because he's a celebrity" garbage the McCain camp is trying to sell doesn't fly with me. Especially because McCain's run ads selling himself as part of the Reagan revolution.

so how can we vote for a guy who 1. can't pick good advisors and 2. can't even control his own campaign staff? If McCain can't control a bunch of politics geeks how can we believe he can handle the rest of the country?

You don't feel like you can has a beer with Obama. He'd want some kind of fancy wine and shiat. But McCain, he's a good ol boy. Go out for a drink, play some darts, pick up some women. Yeeeehaw McCain is my kinda guy and that means he'd make a great President. Giddyup!

I'd rather have a beer with Obama. Hang out on the deck, shoot the shiat, maybe shoot a few hoops. McCain, on the other hand, I'd be afraid the beer would go right through him and I'd get stuck having to change his diaper.

This is great news. Obama's just going to let Mr. McCain cut his own throat, one stupid personal attack at a time.

Then after the primaries, we'll get some gentle reminders about the Keating 5, his millionaire wife, and the fact that he's been handed every job he ever had on a silver platter. We'll also have plenty of depictions of his dumping his loyal (but handicapped) wife in favor of the trophy wife.

When McCain complains, he'll be reminded of the day he biatched about lettuce.

I read that report earlier. scary then, scary now. It's almost like the elections are an afterthought - the staffers, NGOs and government agencies run the show while we're all distracted by elections that don't really mean anything.

What? I happen to like arugula and I'm going to the gym in 18 minutes.

I guess Obama's my candidate. Thanks for opening my eyes, McCain!

Oh man, this is just becoming satire. I can't believe someone would think this is a good way to attack your opponent.

Although with 66% of America overweight, maybe they are going for that demographic or something.

Problem: Kerry projected aloofness. Obama is much more personable. That's why these types of attacks don't work. Did you ever see Kerry playing basketball wearing a USMC shirt? Draining jump-shots at a base in Iraq? It's very difficult to show Obama in the same light as Kerry.

True, it's not as effective, but past success is why the McCain camp is trying it too.

Kerry had all the personality of a plank of wood. I knew the guy was doomed when I saw a clip of him trying to eat a philly cheesesteak. He looked like someone just handed him a freshly gutted trout and told him to chow down. That's why the accusations of 'elitism' worked against him....Kerry really IS an elitist snob.

Mind you, he's not alone in that. the Senate is (generally) a millionare clubhouse after all. Lots of blue blooded snobs in there.

Skail [TotalFark] 2008-08-03 04:06:15 PM
I go to the gym every day (haven't missed a day in over three years), and I'm pretty sure I'm not a celebrity. At least, I don't get paid like one.

Seriously, I'm very sad that the state of American politics (and the mentality of the voting public) is at such a shameful low that this is considered a legitimate attack strategy.
