I wonder if the aliens who subjugate the human race and breed humans for food will have their own version of this.

Pretty good one suicidal writer, but I think it is too obvious of a troll to get a large argument started. Maybe a small one, though.

You're really slacking lately.

I live near Naperville and I used to attend Ribfest every year. I volunteered (meaning did everything) for a local public access TV channel. It was great! I walked around with my camera, interviewed the cooks and ate more ribs than I needed for free! One year the surprise musical guest was Cheap Trick so I have a cool bootleg video of them doing all their best hits and obscure favorites. Now it's just too expensive to do anything in that town, but it's still beautiful. If I had known they were doing this, I would have planned to check it out. Hope it's a success, maybe next year.

The difference is that cows don't know they're being "subjugated" due to their lack of thought. I like to think that what they lack in brains they more than make up for in tastiness though.

WOW this is bigger than the Inspiration Against War protest that marched down a country road gathering a total of about 8 people. I'm sure they made a real impression on all of the farmers who were away at Church. True Story.

So you can communicate with cows enough to determine their means of cognition? Are you really sure?

Yes, or barring that, the cows have developed a proto-religion that regards being slaughtered as achieving inner peace, judging by how they react when you chop off the head of a cow nearby.

Humans and primates in general make poor food animals. They grow too slow, eat too much, and can manipulate things with their hands.

Ideal food animals can be contained in two dimensions, have no hand like parts with which to jiggle locks, and grow quickly for the amount of feed provided. If they were going to steal and breed any species from earth it would be chickens. Or maybe there's some other option that would have an even higher return on feed.

I picked up a box of those at Trader Joes recently because I was shopping while hungry. I have never had ribs before, so I can't really tell you what would inspire me to think that I would like fake ribs.

They were delicious. Delicious.

Oh my God I'm hungry now.

Yep. These people who get all up in arms about the "welfare" of animals are really doing a disservice to their own species. "MY DOG IS LESS OF AN A_HOLE THAN MOST PEOPLE!!!" No, fool, your dog is too stupid to know any better, that's why he appears to enjoy hanging with a dimwit like you.

There was only one time I was dumb enough to go to a vegetarian restaurant. It was with my then girlfriend (now ex-girlfriend) and her co-workers, who all were either vegetarians or vegans. I actually though, "You know, if most restaurants have a vegetarian option, then maybe they'll have a meat option." yeah, I couldn't have been more wrong. They had the Vegan option. Not being much of a vegetable eater myself, it was hard to find anything. Eventually I was looking for an order of Mac and Cheese, which wasn't on the menu. So I ordered some Ravioli. This shiat was green and cost $15 and that was one of the cheaper things on the menu (I even asked the waiter if he'd run to the store next door, grab a can of Chef Boyardee and heat it up for me). The sodas were some brand that I never heard off, and for a can half the size that you get out of a vending machine, they were charging almost $2. I didn't eat at that restaurant. I just grabbed a doggy container, waited until the girlfriend and her friends finished eating, then the girlfriend and I found a fast food place to me to grab dinner at.

Current girlfriend knows that taking me to a vegetarian restaurant is a bad idea. But she also doesn't have any vegetarian friends, so that's not a big fear.

I only dated one vegetarian. There was only one date. We were at a Chinese restaurant, she tried to get me to eat some of her tofu and I said, "I understand and respect that you don't eat meat. Understand that I don't eat fake meat." Surprisingly, it didn't end at that moment, but I was sure there wouldn't be a second date when she was talking about her subscription to a Peta magazine or newsletter or something. I was afraid that if I took her home she'd try to liberate my cat.

Dated a few vegetarians. Fortunately, they were cool with my carnivorous lifestyle and didn't try to lecture/convert me. We had to go to places that had decent salad bars but I had plenty of dead animal flesh. The only thing that was a drag was no steak houses around them.

/Still will never try to date one again.

For starters, Veggie Fest appears to be an indoor/parking lot event.
Certainly not in a large public park like Ribfest is...over July 4th weekend...with fireworks...and prominent live music acts.

Actually, "ooh, ribs!" is enough to get me and most people that I know into a event with live music and fireworks. Even if the music sucks, you have all the ribs to enjoy.

Listen, if you choose to live your life as a vegetarian or vegan then by all means go for it. Just don't start in with the bullshiat about how the rest of us are "subjugating" cows and chickens and turkeys, etc etc etc, otherwise you're no better than televangelists.
