There's a reason why the Deadheads were high all the time.

The most traded GD show ever. ESTIMATED PROPHET is pretty fly guitar work as well

/not a deadhead
//deadheads too stupid/zoned to appreciated Zappa instead

The two are mutually exclusive?

I have never cared for the Dead.
(except that I think "Mountains of the Moon" is a really great song)

Too boring for me mostly.

I have and will always respect them though.
I respect their professionalism and their ethic and integrity.

There are many artists who I don't care for but I regard them as "great" for being true and unpretentious.

Grateful Dead is certainly one.
Garcia seemed like a real NO BULlSH*T kinda guy.
Lesh,Weir and all the rest seem that way too.

...I seem to recall some good stuff on "Blues For Allah" too I think.

You guys really need to listen to the Dead. Not only was Jerry a guitar genius, but they were the world's greatest cover band and one of the foremost musical groups for true American music - a blend of bluegrass, country, blues & rock. Listen to Workingman's Dead & American Beauty, then any live stuff you can get your hands on. Actually, most people who enjoy Jerry's guitar playing are also Zappa freaks, because of their awesome solos. I got lucky when Napster was big to search for all the live Dead & Zappa stuff there was, & there was a ton!

Jryy's not dead, he's hanging out with Keasey and Abbie, smoking a joint with Pigpen and Bill Grahm

Not a huge fan of his music but all 4 of the shows I have been to have been a great time.

The_Philosopher_King 2008-08-03 08:06:08 PM
I saw 3 shows and loved them. The action in the parking lot was as much fun as the show.

Do you know why the dancers always twirled and waved their arms?
. . .
To keep the music out of their eyes.

im with you on this, but the NOT boring stuff they got into is really great. blues for allah and anthem of the sun. i wish they wouldve done more experimental stuff like those 2 records, the folky country shiat bores me to death.

grundletaint: too bad it's full of donna jean godawful

i delivered pizza to her a few times. she stiffed me every time.

WIN! I love the GD but I can't stand her voice. I'd never heard 'godawful' before =)

the dead summer tours were the one thing i could look forward to for the entire school year that i knew would not disappoint. even at their worst, every show would have moments that lit me up like no other band.

gotta love 'em for that...they were all about the live show -- and for audiophiles, their sound was always head-and-shoulders above the rest.

also, subber, i don't know if it's intentional, but it's very cool that you posted a link that ends with jerry saying, "thanks a lot, see you later."

/many happy returns

I was lucky enough to see the Dead's last Atlanta show....best concert ever!
On an unhappy note....this Saturday marks Jerry's deathday

/There is NOTHING like a Grateful Dead concert
//will be listening to Fox Theater, Atlanta, '77 tonight

The old Harper College show from 5/2/70 (Dick's Picks 8) is the best live work I've ever heard. EVER.

Would love to find the 12/2/92 Denver show on a CD someday.

Here you go Helmet: Archive.org

Enjoy it. If you'd prefer I can mail you a few shows on CD as well. My email is in my profile if you want to get disks in the mail. I've sent out shows to three Farkers at this point and they all seem to appreciate it.

I still miss Jerry every time I listen to an old show or go to a concert put on by one of the boys.

That being said, Lesh, Weir, and Hart have all been able to put together better lineups for more enjoyable shows than any of the '94-'95 GD shows I saw or have heard.

/still holding out hopes for another reunion tour
//especially if they can get Kimock and Hornsby in on it

Goin' home, goin' home, by the riverside I will rest my bones,
Listen to the river sing sweet songs, to rock my soul.

Huh?

Probably the 2 largest portions of my music collection are Grateful Dead/Garcia and FZ

/grateful he's dead......
