A close friend of mine got struck a few years ago...didn't do much other than knock her on her ass and knocked her out for a few seconds. She's still much the same

Well, I don't kiss and tell, however, I do have a significant network of friends; enough to establish a valid baseline; and if there is one thing we like to do, it's compare notes.

How could you remain the same when you realize that it was nature trying to thin the herd, but it's aim was a little off when gunning for you?

mab1823 2008-08-03 10:50:07 AM
Nothing much happened to me after I got struck...OK, so lightning struck the outrigger on a boat while I was holding it. Close enough.

Felt like someone punched the shiat out of my shoulder.

A friend was struck by lightning and afterwards whenever he heard thunder, he would run in the direction he was facing.

It's dangerous to try and run any other direction.

I hope he never hears thunder while looking out over the edge of a cliff.

Not a very sound methodology... I would recommend a bukkake session, recorded on video so the results can be shared with others.

I got struck by lightning once, or as I like to call it, gods drive by shooting.

Most people think that when you get struck by lightning you get some kind of magical superpowers, like the ability to read minds or shoot lightning....but no, not me. I got the ability to shake on the ground uncontrolably and shiat my pants.

I got hit at a concert in Pittsburgh, about 10 of us under a tarp in a large field. The lightning struck a metal hand rail about 10 feet away from us and it still lit us up pretty good. I was 100% drunk, so I am sure that helped ease the pain.

When I was about twelve, a 14-year-old boy from my neighborhood was struck in the back of the neck and killed. Our friend, who was with him at the time, received one helluva shock and was in a coma for a few days. He's fine now, but he's certainly one wacky guy. I'm not sure if it was the lightning that did it to him, though.

I can understand the personality change. I was on a complete adrenaline overdose the first time I bodyboarded Mavericks (during a 20'@17sec swell). For three days after I was blindly euphoric, and thereafter had a different perspective upon which was truly important. When you've faced down and tamed- under your own power- a wall of water of incalculable tonnage the height of a three-story building racing at you at nearly 30MPH you fear no man, but it's also much harder to care about (and have patience with)the plethora of mind-numbing petty trivialities that the world hands out on a daily basis....

Bor-ing.

For those of you who don't want to read the 5000 word article - lightning is electricity that comes from the sky - some chick got struck by it and it damaged her illusion of invincibility - but not enough to make her interesting.

My MIL was struck by lightning not once but twice.

Crazy biatch - even the grandkids don't want anything to do with her.

I clicked on this thread to see the TF'ers go on about how anyone who is struck by lightning deserves financial ruin and death -- because a TF'er works too hard (for daddy's firm) to get struck by lightning.

filter 2008-08-03 01:48:21 PM
the prevailing school of thought is that whacky people are more predisposed to be hit by lightening in the first place.

i'm driving my life away 2008-08-03 02:31:37 PM
a friend of mine when i was younger got struck not once, not twice, but thrice. plus on top of it all he had a hair lip and his ultimate goal in life was to become the janitor at a local elementary school. he was pretty farked up.

i'm driving my life away 2008-08-03 02:32:14 PM
oh and all three strikes were separate incidents

technicolor-misfit 2008-08-03 02:32:35 PM
When I was a kid, I saw someone almost get struck by lightning.

It was outside a bank, and a girl was sitting on the sidewalk leaning back against the wall below the big metal after-hours deposit drawer.

The deposit drawer got struck and I thought that chick was going to jump out of her skin.

I almost got struck by a foul ball at a minor league game in much the same way. It bounced off the wall about half a foot from my head. I was much cooler about it. I didn't even flinch.

(because I didn't see it till it bounced away from me)

The only thing that makes a TF'er different from you is that a TF'er has ponied up $5/mo (or less, if paid semi-annually) for access to Totalfark.

Well, and the fact that we're superior to the rest of you lot, of course.. or... something...
