He had full custody since the divorce up until last year. The supervised visitation could have been the result of a claim made by the mother that there was a (valid) fear of kidnapping, or an accusation of molestation. All it takes is an accusation, which could have been well founded or could have been spurious.

However I've yet to see ant mention of any kind of abuse on his part. It was probably due to his ability to travel abroad and the bizarre identity issue.

I've read only four reports on this, so maybe you've read something I missed, but I have yet to see anyone say that he was believed to be an abusive parent. If you have can you direct me to it?

Most likely because that is what their divorce settlement stated. He gave up custody (VOLUNTARILY, I might add) to receive a wad of cash from his now ex. Scum bag. I hope they throw the book at this douchenozzle.

There was an amber alert when he took off with her, but a day later police were saying the girl was not in any danger. We just recently had a link about how amber alerts were mostly used for custody disputes rather than high-risk kidnappings.

^^Not directed at you PAM, none of us have any clue what is actually going on here. I think it is probably a little more than the usual grab-your-kid and bail situation, but maybe that's all it is.

Anyways, it's always fun to curse, even if there's nothing really to curse at.

As far as the supervised visits go....That doesn't mean anything. My wife and I are going through a bitter custody battle with her keeping the kids from me as much as she can in order to hurt me, nevermind the fact that it hurts the kids even more. We went from Sept to Jan without a custody order and she refused to let me see my kids (who are 6, 3 and 1). When we had our first conciliation hearing, I agreed to supervised visits only because I was desparate to see my kids, whom I care about more than anything. I couldn't afford a lawyer, and I couldn't get help from the Legal Aid office because they were representing her, so I took what I could get. We have the second and final conciliation hearing in front of the mediator this month, and I'm going in with a list of demands possibly including joint physical custody and I'm not giving in. If nothing gets worked out, It'll go in front of the judge, and then it's likely that neither one of us is going to be happy.

Anyway, just don't assume the worst because a guy has supervised visits, more likely than not, the ex is being a coont. Its sad to say, but women really do have the power to use the kids against the father in custody situations.

I don't understand custody battles. My ex-wife didn't make any demands in that area, and I can see my kids whenever I want to, the way it ought to be. Spouses who play games with their kids in order to get back at their ex are scum, plain and simple. The kids lose because one or both of their parents never grew up.
