Physical, Mental, and Experience a B, Emotional Integrity an F, but overall a Z+ ? What does that even mean?
One way or the other, I better finish reading the zombie survival guide!

I have my plan all figured out.

No, I won't share it with you, and if sh*t hits the fan, it's every man for himself

It's broken. It just asks "Are you Male or Female" numerous times (I was at Question 70 before I gave up).

Jebus wake up people! Chainsaws are only effective against zombies in the movies.

So your plan is to draw them all to you with noise and be buried by a mass of the undead?

Great plan.

Beck Bristow, you're actually better off with these:

I scored low on emotion because horror movies make me jump... I think there is a big difference between keeping a calm head when faced with an emergency in front of you and not liking creepy music and CGI monsters.

I resemble that, too.

Zombies eat brains. If you live in America you don't need to worry because they'll probably starve before they get to you.

He claims "Zombies do not run" which is inaccurate and boring as hell, although possibly useful.

If zombies were slow-movers, I'd tie one to a lawn mower and walk around the yard. We could have them do all sorts of tasks for us.

B for physical. I'm a bit out of shape, but I'm in the process of correcting that.

A for mental and experience. I have a personal interest in self-sufficiency and wilderness survival (I live in the frigging Yukon, yo). I've also read both of Max Brooks' books and have seen a huge number of zombie movies, so I guess that helps.

F for emotional. The questions that related to this were kind of ambiguous though. They didn't provide nearly enough information about a situation to really decide how to act.

My overall rating was Z+.

I'm so much of a geek that I realize this test is totally worthless, because it didn't specify which TYPE of zombie is involved.

Farker Gun Nut Question time:

Is .22 ammo powerful enough to put down a Zombie from a distance (assuming a head shot)?

I would assume you'd want a silenced .40 or better for close up, with a machete as back up. I'm also heading for the nearest Marine Barracks, stocking up and heading to Costco.

homerdrew415: Is .22 ammo powerful enough to put down a Zombie from a distance (assuming a head shot)?

A .22 is more than capable of piercing the skull.

Also, B, B, C, F, Z+ with fire arms experience..

I thought that a .22 was skull piercing only at short range (i.e. Mob hit with a .22 behind the ear)

Despite having never used a non-virtual firearm, I think I'd have a good chance of surviving.
Good thing I've watched so many zombie movies and I'm currently reading my fifth zombie book.

Can't wait for Zombie CSU^ coming out next month.
It could be even better than Max Brooks' Zombie Survival Guide^.

the question specified "at a distance". there is a good chance a .22 round would deflect off a skull from a distance on anything but a perfectly placed straight on shot. now, a .22 magnum on the other hand...

Yep I feel pretty safe especially if it's a small outbreak. Living in florida we'd just take hurricane precautions, and hide in our home. My only real detriment is i'm a very not physicall fit person.

Also got a Zombie+ overall rating, which makes no sense given the other scores.

Still, very cool.
And after 28 days, I know damned well that zombies run and scream, and after Shaun of the Dead I know they still can play video games, so NYAH.

Not only can it penetrate the skull it will also bounce around inside and tear up the brain more. It's also cheap, light, and available just about anywhere. A .22 is a great firearm to have in a zombie outbreak. I'll take a .22 and a Sholin Spade over any machine gun and sword combo.

The thing you have to think about with any weapon is your range of effectiveness, the weapon's and yours. How close can the gouls come before you get nervous and lose your aim/composure.

For weapon consideration, can it decapitate or destroy a undead brain easily and cleanly? Fire, grenades, fully automatic machine guns, and other explosives are really not that great for undead disposal. Check out the Zombie Survival Guide for more details.

The main thing I fear if there ever is a real zombie outbreak is the smell and having to confront zombies of friends and family.

READ WORLD WAR Z.

Best book I've read in years.

Some of the questions were pretty obvious. Of course you're going to pick a truck over a car. What's better to ram zombies with than this?

It certainly is powerful enough, unless you're going through the frontal bone- the classic "between the eyes" shot. Side or back of the head would be easy.

Hand me a .22LR rifle (Savage 64F would be my choice) and a 18" machete and I'm good to go.

FunkOut [TotalFark] 2008-08-02 04:09:30 PM
Z+, I did well on that but I'm not surprised since I like to think about zombie attack survival scenarios when I get bored. Ah hell, even when I'm not bored. Little surprised at the low emotional integrity rating but hey, it's a zombie situation, not an episode of Dr. Phil. If I see someone being eaten by zombies, they're already a goner.

On another note, I want to see zombies eat Dr. Phil.

Shadowknight [recently expired TotalFark] 2008-08-02 04:09:49 PM
I think almost everyone here got a Z+, with the exception of weiner dog here.

Also, is it going to count me as an even bigger dork if I admit the reason I finally decided to get back into shape (after putting it off for years) is that I read WWZ and Zombie Survival Guide back to back? I've been working like crazy ever since, but I don't really know if it was BECAUSE of reading these books, or if it was just a coincidence.

Really, if you take the zombie aspect out of those two books, it really is a great character study on how human kind would survive a viral or bacterial outbreak. What would we do, as a culture, if something threatened to wipe out mankind?

And the Survival Guide would actually be a pretty good way to survive the same kind of non-living dead outbreak. And maybe it's a little tinfoil hat of me, but I can see something catastrophic happening in my lifetime. And while I'm not going to change my life drastically or start hording food over it, I figure it couldn't hurt to be in shape and be able to run for a couple of miles.

CravenMorehead 2008-08-02 04:10:06 PM
I took the test three times answering the questions totally differently each time and my final rating was always Z+.

Overall a pretty crappy test.

redbaron303 2008-08-02 04:10:14 PM
Z+

Physical: B (what do you expect from sitting around on fark all day?)
Mental: A (side effect of the above)
Experience: A (Who hasn't read The Zombie Survival Guide?)
Emotional: F (I don't need them.)

BLR: And after 28 days, I know damned well that zombies run and scream, and after Shaun of the Dead I know they still can play video games, so NYAH.

28 Days and Weeks are lying to you. Those aren't zombies, they're humans with a disease. Note the fact they need to eat.
