She did a heck of a job?

what_now [TotalFark] 2008-08-01 10:51:01 AM
she engaged in activities that violated MnDOT's ethics code and was involved in "activities that cannot withstand public scrutiny without embarrassment. ..

so...perfect for a job with the GOP.

You would think the GOP would STOP hiring high publicity failures, but you'd be wrong. With this, the idea of Stevens getting a trial in OCTOBER, It's almost like the want to try, for a social experiment maybe, how badly McCain can lose.

Honestly though, this won't hurt the Republicans at all. Sure, everyone in Minnesota wants this woman's blood, but Minnesota is about as likely to vote for McCain as Massachusettes is. More actually, if you consider than it was the only state Reagan didn't win in 84.

I_Hate_Iowa 2008-08-01 11:05:03 AM
A new law went into effect in Minnesota today that requires any agency with any sort of disaster response function to have at least one employee who went through a certain disater response curriculum.

Wow! I sure am glad at least ONE person at Minnesota's equivalent to FEMA knows WTF they're doing.

To be fair, a solid snowstorm is about as disastery as Minnesota gets. The bridge collapse seems terrible but it was only made worse because of all the media attention...

Now if your city is in a hurricane or tornado zone or build on an active tectonic fault...

Understood. But the funny thing about disasters is that they're hard to predict. Preparedness (and by extension, competence) is the key.

This explains so much...

Well St. Paul DID have a chunk of bridge give way just last week.

/Pawlenty not take state infrastructure seriously? It's more likely than you think.
//Also, MN DOES get tornadoes, not as many as OK, but the occasional one.

Uh, maybe I missed it but I don't she where the article says she was appointed. I guess that means she was hired just like anyone else and it has jack shiat to do with what political party is occupying the White House, rather, it has to do with a huge government full of incompetent twats. This won't change whether President Change or Methuselah gets elected. But don't let that get in the way of partisan bashing.

Pitt's letter of discharge states she engaged in activities that violated MnDOT's ethics code and was involved in "activities that cannot withstand public scrutiny without embarrassment. ... do not safeguard the public trust in the integrity of MnDOT, and undermine public trust in the Department."

In other words, the TSA is exactly where she belongs.

Hey now, driving through and around Minneapolis has been a real hardship for us here in the last year. It sometimes takes an addition 20 minutes to get somewhere! I say those people in New Orleans have no right to complain.

Done. In exchange we'll tell our more extreme members to back off on that whole "gold standard" thing and admit that some oversight is always necessary.

All in favor?

Ahh yes. More suckers believing that the Libs give a shiat about them. Wake up, morans. NEITHER party gives a flying fark about your well being. Anybody that really believes the Democrats or Republicans are interested in anything besides acquiring more power for themselves really needs to start paying closer attention instead of simply waiting for an opportunity to slam the opposition. We're never going to get anywhere until we realize the system is broken.

It's hard to believe that Homeland Security's thorough background check on Ms. Pitt didn't involve a Google search of her name. I guess that got bypassed because she was diddling the supervisor.

Isn't it everybody's goal to get a good job wherein you just sit on your butt, do nothing and get a paycheck for it ? The problem is, you have to do just enough not to get fired as this woman did.

It reminds me of the ex-Police Chief in Atlanta, Beverly Harvard. Her credentials were that the was the driver for the previous chief. When he left office she became chief. When she was "let go" for a new incoming chief, she quickly snared the position of head of security at the Atlanta Airport. The downside for her,....she no longer has an excuse to wear her "Dictator uniform" with all the gold braid an shoulder bars etc. I'm not sure but I think I heard somewhere that she had married the airport manager or somebody who is a "higher-up" official at the airport. The running joke used to be that, "Chief Beverly Harvard has a "big possee".
