Okay... so the two thirds of Earths human population that's supposed to go poof in 2012... I'm thinking India, Pakistan and China (plus some nearby countries) would almost cover it.

I came in here to point out that a war would solve earth's overpopulation problem, from which the major environmental problems derive.

Of course they did. Pakistan intelligence has continued to aid the Taliban and other militants since promising to oppose them after 9/11. They play both sides and we keep sending them billions in military aid.

The meeting also came as a top Pakistani official publicly rejected giving the U.S. military authority to enter the tribal regions to attack terror networks itself.

They aided the establishment of the Taliban and Al Qaeda in the tribal regions and have very deliberately allowed them to remain. They mount some assaults from time to time to keep the United States happy, but nothing significant enough to actually dislodge the Taliban's control. Taliban forces raid into Afghanistan and then run back across the border into Pakistan where we're not allowed to follow. They've been doing it for years and Pakistan has very deliberately done nothing about it.

The United States has grown increasingly frustrated as Al Qaeda, the Taliban and other militants thrive in Pakistan's remote areas and in neighboring Afghanistan, and has asked that U.S. troops be allowed to strike at terror networks. The new regime says it prefers to negotiate a new peace agreement with militant groups in the relatively ungoverned region, which is about the size of Maryland.

Which they've done before and it doesn't farking work. "Peace agreement" with the Taliban and Al Qaeda forces in the tribal regions means that they are free to continue recruiting and training militants, which is exactly what they're doing. Training now includes IED making and suicide bombing.

Pakistan is not our friend and the Bush administration's refusal to really call them out on this shiat is pathetic.

Let's see...
Couple of billion less people in Asia = lower demand for gas
Oil drops to less than $50 a barrel...
Ergo, we can start hoping for 1992 gas prices again!

Lots of angry protests and a stoning of the US embassy in China, because it was an accident caused by a 'tard using an old map?

/We're referring to the one in Iraq that was bombed on a mid-90s air raid, yes?

So it looks like we are finally leaning 100% towards India - I think it's about time. The big caveat right now is that I just don't trust the Bush administration, the ISI and India to come to a sensible solution to this. The three of them are a bunch of paranoid clowns that don't even know what they really want out of their foreign policies (well, maybe the ISI does).

They've fought 3 brutal wars since 1946. It's the reason they both have nukes in the first place, in defense of each other. I'm not as optimistic as you are.

And what did China get? A few bucks and a "we didn't use the correct maps" apology. China was beginning to peak in economic status, roughly increasing by 10% a year; I'm sure they didn't want to jeopardize their growth/progress as the US was still the power house in world economics with a solid dollar and a budget surplus.

Five bucks says they won't forget about it though.

India should give up Kashmir to whoever wants it, (either give Kashmir autonomy or to Pakistan)instead of pouring millions of dollars and wasting thousands of lives for a state that shouldn't have been part of India to begin with, a state which is a giant drain on Indian resources and a rallying point for Islamic fundies
