I'll be hosting, come on out. We'll be upstairs.

Lame. I'm in Littleton, and I'll be working till 11pm.

Brown Sauce 2008-08-01 01:32:16 PM
I just visited that place, it's cool.

I've heard around FARK threads that Colorado Springs has a fundy problem, which bums me out because it is so pretty out there.

True, or exagerrated?

true.

The fundy problem is here but I don't tend to notice it but then again I ignore most of that kind of stuff anyway. I will try to be there tomorrow.

true.

And also exaggerated.

I don't perceive any kind of "fundy problem" but Focus on the Family is out here, and it serves as sort of a lightning rod for some folks.

I'm not so sure it's a problem. It might be what they have going for them. I thought it was one of the nicer places we visited around Eastern Colorado area. The downtown is clean, easy to get around, and everyone was nice and relatively normal. Downtown Denver or Boulder, on the other hand, are major freak magnets, and more overcrowded. Pueblo was just sad. Of course I felt safer in all of them than I ever do in my own city.

JUst left springs damnit.

piercedgeek 2008-08-01 01:56:11 PM
hmm, I land in Denver that morning... so close yet so far

BenjaminFarklin 2008-08-01 01:58:59 PM
Upstairs as in '2nd floor bar', or upstairs as in '3rd floor private function facility'?

loki see loki do 2008-08-01 01:59:59 PM
Well, hang in there guys, at least you're in one of the most beautiful areas in the country.

Garden of the Gods is way cool, good rock climbin' there when I was a kid. And town was always clean by city standards, it seems.

Tilt a pint for me, eh?

/end superfluous, potentially threadjacking-type question

Very true. Kinda hard not to be as the evangelical megachurch capital of the US, home base of Focus on the Family, and 3 military bases. But at least all the right-wing influence has somehow kept our gas prices below $4 still :P (yeah, that's my theory)

I'll be at Boom Days in Leadville this weekend though :( Too bad, Phantom Canyon is a happenin' place

p00p6 2008-08-01 02:07:14 PM
wanna postpone it a month till CC opens again? Please?

fred_chan 2008-08-01 02:11:43 PM
Aw, I miss the Springs. :( Wish I could be there, but if I was I'd actually probably end up eating pub chips and drinking beer at Jack Quinn's with my best friend. D:

Argh! Now I'm going to crave pub chips all day!

HalcyonGoddess 2008-08-01 02:17:18 PM
What the hell? Why can't we have a Fark party in Denver, huh?

WHAT ABOUT MY NEEDS

Steezy 2008-08-01 02:20:13 PM
Haha good ole Phantom.

lemmy2010 2008-08-01 02:31:39 PM
Sweet. I'll try convince the wife to go too.

eltejon 2008-08-01 02:34:36 PM
Try the cinnamon roll. Or head over to Michell's on Tejon for 30% butterfat ice cream. Or just pour a little on my lawn at 406 E. Uintah for me. I am sure the renter will not mind. FARK I miss the Springs. Wish I could be there. Have fun.

No WAY! I didn't know there were Fark parties in Colorado Springs! Sweet, my first one!

For all of you beer snobs out there, which I am, Phantom Canyon ROX!

Hate to burst your bubble but Michelle's is closed.

I grew up in the Springs, off of Palmer Park and Circle, back in the 70's and 80's. When it was fun. When The Citadel was the good mall. My folks and brother still live there.

/Wish I could go...
//I'm gonna go pout now...

GrungeGod 2008-08-01 02:49:35 PM
Just moved away from the Springs. Now I want to go back. Drink a Railyard for me you magnificent bastards!!

MidnightRepairman [TotalFark] 2008-08-01 03:06:52 PM
Was just at Phantom Canyon last night. Fair warning: The new blueberry beer tastes really good at first, but after a whole pint, it's sickening. Stick with the IPA.

Josh and Johns has better ice cream anyway. Michelle's is (was) good for all kinds of desserts, for sure.

Looking at Phantom Canyon from my office window... but not sure if I'll be able to get over there tomorrow night. What do we do at a Fark party anyway?

GanjSmokr 2008-08-01 03:15:32 PM
anyone up in the ft collins area want to throw a little something up here as well? personally, i don't feel like going to the springs to get drunk.

texaspatman 2008-08-01 03:32:27 PM
REMINIDER?

Damn - didn't even see the original. I'm in Littleton and would
have made arrangements :(

TheRain 2008-08-01 03:34:21 PM
I'll be there. Woo woo.

Will there be anything specifically denoting "this is where the Farkers are!"? That would be helpful.

If I'm not at Elich Gardens to late I might make a run down there.

From the Colorado Beer thread yesterday - I know "Angry Bunny" is up in the Ft.Co area.
I'd even drive up for that one too, (before it snows....)

Anybody going or have ever attended the "Foam Fest" Saturday afternoon? It's at Coleman park, 25 brews, Live music and such. I'm pretty sure if I make it to that, I will not make it to the Fark party.

That thing is $35 at the gate, and it's outside, where it's supposed to be like 95 degrees. Wouldn't Phantom Canyon with a bunch of Farkers be a much more suitable Saturday?

boxedtheatre 2008-08-01 04:31:25 PM
Sadly, the Springs is too far for me to migrate from Denver because of my craptacular work schedule.

Have fun, kids!

FusionJunky 2008-08-01 04:48:25 PM

Aw man, if I wasnt already locked into plans up here in Denver I would be there. Sucks.

Another Ft Collins farker here, i might be down if we do something in our neck of the woods.

bean_sips 2008-08-01 05:37:18 PM
Loveland farker here. I was in Colorado Springs for a meeting earlier this week. I'd like to make it down there if I can, but we'll just have to see.

Three? Where the hell did you learn to count? There are five.

And forget that one singular megachurch. There is one church for every 22 people here. And I don't go. You do the math.

davemassive 2008-08-01 05:59:33 PM
I may just walk up there. Depends on when / if I get back. I just bought a Jeep and me and the wife are gonna take her top off and roll around Saturday.

/the Jeep's

Wish I was back in my home town for the party. When you walk in to Phantom, look up at the Indian Head carved into the corner of the building facing Cheyenne Mountain. That's a beautiful old building and they did a fine job refurbishing it for Phantom Canyon. Should be a big night with the U.S. Senior Open in town...used to caddy at the Broadmoor.

Unfreakable [TotalFark] 2008-08-01 06:08:10 PM
I'll be upstairs on the second floor (not the third floor) probably on the East Side of the second floor, since the western side has the bar and is usually really crowded.

Whatever 2008-08-01 06:12:10 PM
Cool. See you all there. I can bring Mr. Whatever, right?

Unfreakable [TotalFark] 2008-08-01 06:53:17 PM
Of course, although he might feel about out of the loop on the humor part.
