I read just the 5-star reviews (8 of 208) to get the other view of it, four were snarky backhand slams.

I don't know how anybody who has listened to her speak would want to read a book by her. One vapid, self-serving statement after another.

It's like she was raised by a pack feral politicians.

One of the 5-star reviews: "I received my book two days ago from Amazon and I am not sure some of the people who commented have read the book. I found it inspiring, inciteful, and entertaining. I loved it!!!!!!"

Snark, slip, or just plain stupidity? You decide.

When she became the first Madame Speaker, I really thought it was going to be a huge turning point. She's been a really big disappointment, and I wish it was at least harder for me to admit that.

Uh Most damage in resent history huh? That would be Bush. Nancy isn't in charge of policy. Yeah she is a do nothing political hack but she wasn't the one ignoring the pentagon assements before the Iraq war that the US wasn't ready to fight a multifront war, ignoring the generals on the ground for years while Rumsfield nearly ran the occupation into the ground, and Dick issued no bid contracts bids to his friends at the expense of the american tax payer. Then to top it all off Bush, the self proclain reganite, bloated the military, expanded federal goverment more then any other president since Roosevelt, and mired us two indifinite wars that both have deadly consquences for the United States interests in the long term IF (and that a big farking if) we don't stablize it. The icing on the cake is the economy with Bush's lax regulation on everything from the enviroment, the housing market, engery regulation, wall street, ect. Has doomed us into the biggest recession, if not depression, seen in several generations. Honestly Bush has done to this country what 25 years of a slow decline would done in just 8 short years.

But yeah Nancy is a scary "liburul" and Harry Reed is very bad man, just keep regurtating what ever Rush vomits forth. Yeah they suck, they didn't do what they where elected for which was to challenge Bush. Why would they? The protect the same big corporate entities as the Republicans. Franco: Nancy isn't in charge of policy.

As Speaker of the House, she is arguably the most powerful person in Congress. That position is highly influential in setting law. By using her position, Nancy Pelosi could try to mitigate the excesses of the Executive.

Yeah she is a do nothing political hack

And this is the problem. You should so some research into Tip O'Neil. That man understood politics and the position of Speaker more than anyone else to hold the position since Newt Gingrich (you could also read about Newt Gingrich as Speaker)

My point is: the Speaker of the House is really far more powerful than the president, if that Speaker understands how to use their position.

but she wasn't...wuh... the one ignoring the pentagon assements before ...wuhg...the Iraq war that the US wasn't ready to fight a multifront war...WHARGARBLL

Whatever.

But yeah Nancy is a scary "liburul" and Harry Reed is very bad man

It really isn't about your team anymore. Both Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid are bad, and they are bad because they no longer care to represent their constituencies, but rather an ideology. The House is supposed to represent people and the Senate the state. They both believe that their point of view matters more than the people they represent.

just keep regurtating what ever Rush vomits forth.

Nothing at all to do with Rush Limbaugh. Their character flaws would exist whether or not Rush was on the air.

Yeah they suck, they didn't do what they where elected for which was to challenge Bush.

This is not what they were elected for. They both have held their positions in Congress a whole lot longer that Bush.

Why would they? The protect the same big corporate entities as the Republicans. The only different is marketing. Republicans espose traditions, and Democrats spew forth about progress and change. Depite buzz words it all same shiat.

So are they bad because they are "Scary Liberals", or however you spelled it, or because they are slaves to a corporate master?

I fell for this hook, line and sinker. Heh.

Not to be too much of a dick, but more than half of the people in the Bay Area can and did tell everyone she'd make no such effort. She's sort of the condominium of congressmen, once or twice she engages in her own stupidity but the other 99% of the time she's subletting to one special interest group or another. She's fairly useless as a lawmaker.

Which, I imagine, is why she snagged the top spot in the party.

You aren't a dick at all. I know she is useless - I find her to be a disgrace. Again, it makes me pine for the days when there were people who understood what a Speaker does, and does the job. It is the third most important person in our government. People like Denny Hastert and Nancy Pelosi should understand that. They dont, and that is regrettable.

All these one star reviews are from the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy who are deluded.

You know, I never really expected much out of her and Reid and all, but is there anything these two have accomplished? I mean, I have never heard anyone say, "well, at least they did that".

It appears that the Dems would have been better off in the long run if they hadn't gained the majority in 2006. It wasn't nearly big enough to get anything done, and has become nothing but a convenient whipping post for the right.

This is why sometimes open reviews are useless.

I'm gonna have to agree with Rush Limbaugh this once when I laugh at Nancy Pelosi's shiatty book. He is, of course, anti-feminist so this was right up his alley, but he didn't even need to deride what she was saying, he just pointed out how shiatty it was selling.
