That Obama, he's just way too ELITE to be President.

Not like that self-made George W. Bush. He picked himself up by his own bootstraps the whole way. He's just a regular guy.

I hate our media. I swear to god, these people think they are salt of the earth, yet behind the scenes they will decry the dumbing down of America while publishing nonsense like this. Burn in hell, media.

Tat'dGreaser [TotalFark] 2008-08-01 06:23:30 AM
Its not like the fat people can actually get up off the couch to go vote.

Canadian Canuck [TotalFark] 2008-08-01 06:25:10 AM
What's more frightening is if those numbers are accurate, 2/3s of the population is overweight. That's a scary thought.

FTA: "could Sen. Obama's skinniness be a liability?"

That isn't just a dumb question, it's a really farking dumb question.

We are the Wall Street Journal. We are serious journalists. Eat the deep fried Twinkie, Obama.

Someone, you could say, that you would want to have a beer with. That was all the requirements he needed to be president.

They are saying how Obama's weight could be a liability? Are they out of their god damn minds? THIS is the new talking point? What's next? 'Obama likes the color red. Red is also related to communision, so is Obama a communist?'

If this doesn't prove to people that the media is solely in this for the ratings and want to stretch this BS out as far as it can go for money, nothing will.

Because George W. Bush was a colossal fattie who never went jogging, and constantly scarfed down deep fried twinkines with lard sauce, and that was the key to his electoral victories in 2000 and 2004.

Oh wait...

A long time ago, in my yonder years of childhood, I read a little story in Mad Magazine about how the West would become fatass twinkie eaters.

And alas, the starving mongoloid China-man would come from the East to devour the pasty, twinkie fatfarks that couldn't defend themselves because they were nothing more now than circular blobs.

That cartoon had some real prophetic vision.

Yeah! Nobody will vote for Obama because he's not fat, they'll all vote for the really fat guy that's running agains- Oh, wait.

CanisNoir [TotalFark] 2008-08-01 07:29:13 AM
Darnit, Baercat beat me to the "Blow" joke :(

I think we have viable evidence that the News Cycle is just too damn farking overbearing. When they have to analyze whether or not people will vote for someone because they are fat or skinny, I think they are (a) Really reaching the bottom of the analytical barrel and (b) really stuck in this identity politics bs. I could give two shiats about how someone looks when I'm voting for President, white, black, skinny or fat, doesn't matter as long as they can do the dang job and lean in my direction (i.e. to the right) then I'm happy.

As for the guy who said it was scary that 66% of the population was over weight. Remember when being over weight was a sign of success? It meant you could actually afford to eat, not just roots, twigs and berries, but real food and enough that you were pudgy. Sure, we're a country that is overweight, but that statement along is nothing to freak out about; it's a sign of our success. Now if it said 66% were grossly obese, we might have a problem - a little love puanch aint no thang :P

I hate this article on so many levels.

It's idiotic. The premise for it is idiotic. That it is probably even somewhat accurate is idiotic.

Someone get me off this frackin' planet.

Official State Animal 2008-08-01 07:30:42 AM
Can we make it 32% OBTUSE? I like the angle better.

Or we could make it 32% OBSCURE? Hidden Movie Reference There.

Or we could make it 32% OBDURED? But that gets hard to explain.

We could just go with 32% OBLATED. But that would appeal to the Religious Right.

We could try 32% OBLIQUE, if you're willing to take that position.

This proves the old adage that there's no such thing as a stupid question, only some stupid asshole asking questions.

CNN is currently discussing whether or not InBev's ownership of a Cuban beer manufacturer and their impending buyout of A-B could hurt John McCain via Cindy's interest in A-B. The concept is so retardedly convoluted that I can barely form it into a coherent sentence, but this is what "serious" journalists are reporting on. The end of civilization, indeed.

Further proof that this campaign has gone on way too long. I just read a report that late yesterday John McCain dropped his pen, and while picking it up, may have farted. As yet there's no confirmation.

boy-from-spacelab: ohh wow man, you must be huge!

Unfortunatly I don't prioritize my disposable income that way; I eat plenty of Ramen's and 1.00$ Frozen Pizza's while playing on my 360 in front of the HD Big Screen and boomin speakers. Yea, I'm single, but mainly cuz I love my gadgets and I work a horrid 5:30pm-5:30am Shift that leaves little room for carousing. So instead of spending my money on women and boozing in clubs, I spend it on toys for moi :P

Mr. Right 2008-08-01 07:44:33 AM
Is this "journalist" developing an excuse in case he loses? I can see it now: "No, no, we're not racist because that would be wrong. We just can't stand somebody who's skinnier that us!! Yeah, that's it!"

Bah, that's gotta be mad speculation. It's well known that an "Old Man Fart" can clear a room and I'm sure by now video of people running from the stench would have shown up on You Tube, as such I call Shennanigans on you're silly Pen-Dropped-Fart smear of McCain.

I want to thank CanisNoir for the good chuckle this morning. It is always funny to find out that another disciple that preaches personal responsibility is really just doing it to compensate for the fact that they have not taken care of themselves. BTW Canis, the ability to scarf down cheap processed food is not a measure of success. How about this? Next time you pull up those bootstraps try walking around the block a couple of times.
