Awesome. The System Has Failed was great, and United Abominations was pretty damn good, too. The good news is, this means that there'll be at least one more tour.

This album will be better quality but worse in sails then Metallica's new album "Coffin Shaped buttholes"

So the bands have decided to give up music and start creating musical boats or something now?

Members of Megadeth Dave Mustaine and whoever Dave doesn't hate this week wearily push their walkers into the studio to start work on a new album

FTHFY.

Actually, kinda looking forward to this. Megadeth cranks out consistently enjoyable metal.

/Rust in Peace still one of the best metal albums ever made

They lost me after Youthanasia

This, coming from a guy who can still recite the entire "Start trouble, spread pain" riff from Liar.

Sad, really. Their new stuff just sucks.

Jay Leno would probably not have green lit that headline. Mustaine is 46. Bono is 48. Nobody makes old jokes about Bono.

See how people can smell out when a joke is typical and boring?

Saw 'em with Heaven & Hell last year. They sounded great, even if I didn't recognize anybody but Dave.

Sweating Bulleeeeeets!

Megadeth is much better if you listen to it is as musical satire.

Rewind megadeth by about 20 years and I'm interested.

Came in here to say exactly this, especially the part about "Rust In Peace"

Chris Broderick is only in his 20s. Hardly in need of a walker.

Megadeth's instrumental talent is undeniable, but IMO Dave just sounds like he's constipated when he sings.

Renegade Pancake 2008-07-31 06:29:38 PM
Chris Broderick's in his thirties.

And it doesn't matter how old they are, Megadeth still kick ass live. Sure, they've had a few stinker albums (The World Needs a Hero, Youthanasia, Cryptic Writings), but when they're good, they're GREAT.

And Mustaine's in this great uprising since The System Has Failed that leads me to believe that this album will be great.

/Broderick's nutso on guitar
//rest of band is really tight
///aren't we supposed to like redheads?
////slashies

I completely disagree, they're great in the studio, but I've never been impressed by a live show of theirs. They're definitely just as technically proficient live as in the studio, but no stage presence.
Now Iron Maiden puts on a fantastic live show for comparison.

Have met Mustaine and David Ellefson quite a few times.

Megadeth is still doing metal. I am not sure what Metallica is doing anymore.I gave up on them in '90.

Megadeth is an awesome band, they are one of the bands I'll buy their CD without listening to a single note before getting it. They have yet to let me down.

They're my favorite band, even though I wasn't old enough in the 80's to appreciate them. While I hated the mid-late 90's stuff, mustaine's turned it around pretty well. Shows still rock, dude still looks like he did years ago (which is impressive considering the amount of drugs he took)...

/not worthy
//much respect for the 'deth

one of the m's of metal....

didn't like them when i was younger. i preferred metallica...now i prefer megadeth.

prefer motorhead over all but hey...new metal is still metal.

Indeed.

Wake Up Dead still my fav song of all time. One of the best metal lead riffs ever recorded.

saintwrathchild 2008-07-31 11:47:19 PM
M'eh. I wasn't impressed with their last one. I think Dave's starting to lose it with all his recent success. He seems to thrive off of resistance, and with nothing to prove, I don't foresee his quality retaining like in the 80s.

Oh, and since when is it metal to endorse coffee?*

*note: Dethklok did not endorse coffee, they made coffee metal (the reverse of selling out)

Saw both Megadeth and Maiden this summer. There is no comparison live. Mustaine said maybe 5 words to the crowd the whole time. The show was ok, just not very memorable. The Maiden show, on the other hand, was phenomenal. Presence, great crowd interaction, awesome show.

Put Mustaine back on drugs and then put out an album.

He used to sniff coke off music stands during recording sessions. Killing was his business and business was good.

Iron Maiden 2008-08-01 12:16:30 PM
Saw them open for Heaven and Hell last year. Killer show. Just the right amount of classics with some new material. Have not yet seen them with Broderick but looking forward to the opportunity.

I saw them last November and thought they were still kickin major ass. They have yet to put out an album that makes me want to break the cd. ((ST. ANGER)) ((IRON MAIDENS LAST PIECE OF TRASH)) Although Maiden is better live; CD wise Megadeth has been the most consistant in pumping out quality ones.
