Wow, wow, wow, wow - unbelievable!

hukedanfonix 2008-07-30 02:47:03 AM
Happy birthday to her. But I think Placebo's cover of this is better than the original. Its nice and dark and a unique take on it.

I've currently got a Kate Bush CD in my car.

Damned good stuff.

Is she still married to David Gilmour?

Undertoad [TotalFark] 2008-07-30 02:52:29 AM
She was Tori Amos before Tori Amos was Tori Amos!

A girl I once dated in college used to get turned on every time she listened to Kate. Needless to say, I became a huge fan.

Calling her "alt-rock" is like calling Kid Rock "rap". It's dance music. That you dance to. If you're high.

But I likes me some Kid Rock :)

poopalacarte: I love her duet with Peter Cetera, "Don't Give Up, After All"

I hope you're joking.

Was she ever married to David Gilmour? I can't find anything to support that assumption.

You think Kate Bush is dance music? Not even close.

Which explains why you don't know diddly about Kate Bush.

/said "diddly" and "Bush" in the same sentence.

neenerist 2008-07-30 03:09:54 AM
Kate Bush: Fey, pseudo ethereal, overly sensitive, Ersatz alternative pop with a body nerds can ogle without being accused of jock-ism. File under 'Japan'.

/now off to bed before it gets too warm in here

there's nothing like a little 80's bush.

Happy Birthday, Kate.

I was 19 in 1985 when I heard "Running Up That Hill" for the first time. It instantly became my favorite song, and it has been my favorite ever since.

I think my dog can hear Kate better than I can.

Would you possibly be thinking of Peter Gabriel? If so, arrange to have yourself slapped for confusing the two.

David Gilmour got her her first record deal after hearing her demo tape. She was 16 at the time and actually put off making her first album for a while to finish school.

LonMead: Would you possibly be thinking of Peter Gabriel?

Apparently you're not getting the joke. Kate Bush and Peter Gabriel did Don't Give Up. Peter Cetera did After All, with Cher. It's a bit of making fun with confused identities.

I suppose I can forgive you for confusing Peter Cetera with Peter Gabriel, but I've got to be honest: it's going to take some work.

(Don't Give Up by Peter Gabriel, off of album "So")

That MIGHT be funny if "Kate Bush" and "Cher" were at all similar...

..nah, not even then.

First the Breakfast club and now this. Is there going to be anything else from the 80's that I have never seen?

X_Rated_Shennanigans 2008-07-30 03:19:52 AM
I'd hit it.

Fifty?? Sounds like she already ran over that hill.

/heh

//I love her, really. She's one of my favorites.

This is nice to see.

The last time I saw her come up on Fark it was a total Bush-Bash Fest.

Ignorant basteds.

"Hounds of Love" is a masterpiece and she was only 28 when she did it and produced it.

Speaking of Don't Give Up, there's two videos for it, the version that most people saw (pops)

Then there's the original much less aired version (pops)

And you can't have a Kate Bush thread without This Woman's Work (pops)

Her early music put me through a second puberty. Not so much for her last album.

It's right up there with "It's All Right (Baby's Got Back)" by The Eurythmics with guest star Sir Mixalot.

I like Don't Give Up version two, was about to post it for those who can't keep their Peters straight ;)

Also, The Man With The Child In His Eyes is an awesome song.

Pandora, thanks for the photo.

Odd thing. I don't own any of her CDs and while I respect her as an artist, I can't really call myself a fan. Nonetheless, every since I saw her on a rerun of SNL years ago where she was the music guest, I've had an incredible crush on this woman. And we're not talking about her being a mere lust object either; she was in my adolescent view potential wife material.

/I've probably disclosed too much.
//But it's late and I'm tired.
