There is no civil unrest in this country. Return to your homes. Nothing to see here. Obey authority. Go to sleep.

Not surprising. A new mall is built, decent people shop there, and gradually "they" move in. Disaffected youth with some sick mall fixation flood in, the stores start changing from things your mom may like to things the thugs on the corner want and gradually another commercial center rots. Then, just outside of town another mall is built and the cycle begins anew.

It's a part of the culture of America.

I'd make fun of you and your tin foil hat theories, but I've seen that exact scenario take down 3 malls in my city. Big ones, too.
They're just warehouses now.

Invest in building malls, not in running them. It is sad, but entirely predictable.

The stores in y'all's malls sell low-grade cocaine and cheap, unreliable handguns? Where is this, the Mall of Mogadishu?

Someone should really look at making gangs illegal. That would certainly stop incidents such as this one.

Not quite, but I was thinking about the fashion accessories for such items.

Where is this, the Mall of Mogadishu?

I've said enough already.

That's happened to one near me. It used to have stores like Gap and whatnot but now it has stores with intentionally misspelled names that sell super cheap tacky ghetto clothing.

But then again there's Lenox which offers such stores as Benetton, Lindt, J Crew, and Lacoste. The well-off have to shop somewhere.

Making sure your commercial institution stays free of undesirables is simple. Since the entire mall area is private property, it is perfectly within your right to deny certain types of people, groups or businesses from setting foot on YOUR property. Hell, you could even require membership and impose limitations on... certain human traits.

Oh wait.

FTA: Christopher James Gamble, 17, is accused of stabbing a 15-year-old boy in the buttocks during a fight outside the mall

Imagine getting stabbed in the ass. From then on you would only be knwon as the gut that got stabbed in the ass.

Sadly, the use of knockout gas is restricted to SWAT teams and they only had non-TARDIS holding cells at their disposal.

I dunno, the mall near me has remained pretty much the same, aside from a few renovations, since it was built in 1981.

The other local mall (not too far away), on the other hand, was torn down soon after Wal-Mart moved-in, sucked it dry, and moved-out. No disaffected youth involved.

But, I live in a fairly affluent yuppie town, so I guess things are slightly different.

Although you may have to justify your blanket racism/sexism/ageism to a judge afterwards, since federal laws prohibit that sort of thing.

Okay, but how do you keep people out? You can keep wheelchair-bound people out by surrounding entrances with stairs or moats, but that won't work for everybody.

Yes, it's sad how so many more people want to spend money on pop music and trendy one-season-only clothing than stuff your mom likes, i.e., stuff she already owns and doesn't need to buy anyway.

Arithmetic problems as passwords. Remember in "Constantine" where the nightclub had that bouncer with the pig-in-a-dress and two-frogs-on-a-bench cards? Replace those with multiplication flashcards, but keep the same bouncer.

wtf is with people? Who gets in a fight/riot in a mall? Act like godamn humans, not like a bunch of feces throwing monkeys. I have not seen it but according to a friend of mine my hometown of tracy ca used to have similar issues, although on a much smaller scale, whenever the mall closed on friday or saturday night. Now they just have tons of cops at the mall every such night.
