He should join the Twirl King Yo-Yo company, and go around to local schools to demonstrate his talents at assemblies.

Passive Aggressive Larry: He should join the Twirl King Yo-Yo company, and go around to local schools to demonstrate his talents at assemblies.

Why? Companies are willing to pay him to do demonstrations. That seems like a better move.

One too many yo's, Yo....

daveydave 2008-07-27 02:34:12 PM
I yo-yo every day. I don't use those new fangled bearing yo-yos that spin for a week, I only use solid wood. You have to work harder with the wood and they only spin so long.

/loser I know

Excerpt from TFA:

He remembers the day he found his calling.

It was a slow California afternoon, August 2005. He and a friend were preparing to get high.

The friend said he had the perfect video to accompany the pot: "It's this guy yo-yoing," he said. "It will blow your mind."

Wright was skeptical. He'd had a yo-yo when he was a kid, and he knew what a yo- yo does: it goes up and down. It can do a few tricks. Kid stuff.

But the friend was insistent: "You have to see this."

They lit up and watched.

"Oh God," Wright said, some time later. "My mind is blown."

NYZooMan 2008-07-27 02:39:40 PM
When I was a kid I used to put a twenty foot string on one and yo-yo horizontally across roads and down from overpasses.

Then I grew up.

/Ball Bearing Yo-Yos?
//Might as well stick on a motor.

I'll stick to juggling, thanks.

Yo-yo is fun and all, but just doesn't tickle me the same way.

The Simpsons, season 3, an episode called "Bart the Lover", I suggest you check it out.

Sir Vanderhoot 2008-07-27 02:46:51 PM
That's pretty awesome. I like this guy already.

I'm one of those guys who picks up a talent, gets pretty good at it, then gets bored and moves on to something else. Spinning stuff on my finger? Did it. Juggling? Pen spinning? Contact juggling? Using a diabolo (aka Chinese yoyo)? Stilt walking? Unicycling? Rubiks cube? Check on all of them. (current obsession: TF2)

/might take up the yo yo, I haven't touched one since elementary school
//I was like this back then, too. I got pretty good

"But the modern yo-yo was born in 1990, when a San Francisco dentist invented a yo-yo with a ball bearing at its core."

As if people needed more reason to think dentists are dorks, this guy went and improved a yo-yo. Ha

Dude, when I next got on the subway I'm looking for him. That would be funny to walk up to him and be like, "hey, I read about you on Fark.com. See, I'm just as nerdy." Then we can cry together about our wasted lives.

I wonder how far from me he lives? It can't be far... And I wonder if he's yo-yoing right now...
