Ha, I read the Comics Curmudgeon every week and had wondered how that went.

Oh well, back to mocking Mary Worth and Funky Winkerbean then.

And FOOB. I think it was the mocking of Blandthony that got me hooked on his site in the first place.

I was pleasantly surprised by his voice; I expected Josh to sound much, much nerdier.

One of my friends was on Jeopardy two years ago at the age of 18. Apparently you only can do it once in your life and she has. She did surprisingly well for an 18 year old versus the other 40+ people.

Bob Harris (he was actually a winner) has an excellent book on the whole Jeopardy experience. It's called something like Prisoner of Trebekistan and it's quite excellent.

If you like Jeopardy, you should check it out.

A friend and colleague won on one episode and lost on the next. The thing is is that they tape several episodes during one day. Alex drinks and you can tell because by the Thursday's episode he's more jolly.

why is it called jeopardy anyways. no one is actually in jeopardy.

I have an unhealthy hatred for Alex Trebek. I watch the show every night and cant take him anymore. I cant picture anyone else hosting the show but god damn does he bother me. Especially when he reads a question which requires him to speak in french. Notice there are never questions where he has to speak in spanish, russian, chinese, or any other language?

I've answered every question Alex Trebek has ever asked me in front of a live studio audience correctly...

... all one of them, on that idiot Alex Bennet's show on Live 105.

Shamefully, my question was "What gives a Pink Lady her color?"

Even more shamefully for a non-bartender, I knew the answer...

/don't tell if you know, make everyone else Google it to see if they right!

BlorfMaster: why is it called jeopardy anyways. no one is actually in jeopardy.

It's called Jeopardy! because once you ring in, you're in jeopardy of losing money unless you give the right answer. Most other quiz shows at the time Jeopardy! was created did not penalize you for a wrong answer.

It pissed me off to see a friend of mine on Jeopardy! about two years ago. I tracked him down (hadn't heard from him in about 10 years), and when I got him on the phone the first thing I said to him was, "How the hell did you get on Jeopardy! before I did?"

I'm right on the cusp of passing the tryout test. I've heard apocryphally that you need 40 out of 50 to pass. When I took the two online tests this year and last I recorded the clues and looked up the answers later; I got 36 and 37 respectively.

I got picked to be on The Weakest Link, and I was supposed to be ready to travel in September of 2001. I never did get that call. The show came out of primetime shortly after 9/11.

Just auditioning is an interesting process. You get 15 seconds to stand up in front of about 60 fellow auditioners and tell everyone who you are, and what makes you an interesting person. You are videotaped only once you pass the initial cut of a 20 question written quiz. They kick a bunch of people out, and you have made the first cut. They break you up into groups of 6, then you go to a different room where the cameras are. You get miked, then you play a mock game. Being the weakest link, the wrangler reads the question and insults you, which comes off a a little lame. The next group to play the mock game is watching the procedure so they can get an idea of what to do.

One of the big things about that particular game is that they were not looking for the smartest person, they were casting like it was Gilligan's Island. They want a Gilligan, a Mary Ann, a professor, etc. If you've ever watched a game show and wondered how "that dumbass" got on there, that is why.

I still don't know what character I was cast as...

Why do guitar players keep drumsticks on the dashboard? So they can park in the handicapped zone.

What do you call a drummer with no girlfriend? Homeless.

What's the difference between a drummer and a US savings bond?
A US savings bond will one mature and earn money.

What's the difference between a drummer and a large pizza?
A large pizza can feed a family of four.

So basically not quite good enough for Jeopardy! and way too good for Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader.

I tried out for college Jeopardy in 2000 when they had tryouts in Austin. I smoked the first screening, a written test. Next up was a mock game. I was pretty stiff and nervous but got every question correct. No, I didn't get invited to the show.

There is one thing I still wonder if I did it wrong. They said show up to the audition dressed as if you were going to be on the show. Most of the people there were dressed in suits. I had a t-shirt with my university's logo on it (sweatshirt was out of the question since it was July). I figure the suit was appropiate for regular Jeopardy but all the contestants for college Jeopady tend to wear a shirt with their college's name on it. So, that's what I wore. I think I was the only one.
