Yessirree, you young-uns - that's how we old folk expressed our dissatisfaction with things before the advent of the YouTubez and the MyFacebookSpaces and the blogs.

After we hung onions on our belts, of course. Then we'd fire up the old 78s and dance the Charleston.

If the stores want you to shop locally, then they should carry items people want. This doesn't include the family-owned stores.

Well, after asking for them at the supermarket, why not write a letter?

Hey, it's better than most of the headlines here with the "do you a)go somewhere else b)write a letter to the editor of your newspaper or c)take a shotgun and kill everyone in the store.

at least this way he gets heard. writing a letter to corp. office would only fall on deaf ears.

I asked and got a shrug for an answer, along with zero interest in finding the answer. No, I won't write a letter, but I told the guy thanks for aaaaaaall the help, and I'll buy elsewhere.

Nice and loud, too, right in front of the manager.

They should respond to customer requests. OR you have the freedom to stop giving them your money and start giving it to another store. Why do you hate America, comrade?

fark you. fark you are your selfishness. There are 20,000 people that come in here a week. Do you think that you, of all people, are going to influence a major product purchase? We're going to give shelf space to to Bumblefarks Fried Tator's because YOU want them?

My ex used to do this. She wanted some mustard pretzels. Begged and begged the store to carry them. They did. She bought one bag. 3 months later she went to get another - they stopped carrying them because no one bought 'em.

Customers think you should have everything no matter the size of the store. You should also have infinite shelf and stockroom space. And if you don't have it, you should magically shop everywhere else and know who does.

\hates customers.

A few weeks ago, my local fish wrapper featured a letter from some guy who lived near the railroad tracks and was complaining about the train whistles waking him up at night. The comments people left for that letter would have made Fark proud.

Ten years ago, the paper used to get letters from people who were outraged that there would be a strip club built next to a shopping mall. These were from people who just moved to the area. What they didn't know is that the strip club had been there when that mall was nothing but some guy's corn field.

Yeah! How DARE you expect that someone would want to stock what you want to spend money on! Take your money somewhere else where they stock what you want, dammit!

By the way, when's the Customer Service awards banquet? I want to make sure I cast my vote for you, ya big ol' lump of altruism, you.

Because if one person wants it, you are automatically required to stock it. Chances are if you can't find it in any store in your town, there is a good reason for it. Customer service goes as far as the customer deserves. Some deserve none.

here (pops) is a letter from the rag from my old stomping grounds. Of course if you go to the opinion page, it appears that mostly it is the D.A. writing open letters to the paper's editor and the editor responding or other staff members filling space with their musings on day to day life. I have to say though, at least this paper is online, not compared to the paper from where I grew up atoka (new window) which as far as I know still doesn't have an online edition but the highlight of that weekly paper is to look on the front page and see which farmer had his cows tipped on Friday night, or flipping it over to the back and reading about EVERY single person that was stopped by a police officer coming through that town. sheesh.

How could you?! The farking stores won't stock them!!

GORDON 2008-07-27 10:07:00 AM
I don't understand why this is fark-worthy.... was the person supposed to hold store management at gunpoint until they stocked a product they wanted?

I personally have ordered a product from amazon and paid more for shipping when the local stores would not stock a specific brand I wanted. Too bad for the local guy, huh, not stocking what customers want to buy. That's lame.

Ned the Wookie: Apparently he's granted the family-owned stores some kind of mysterious exemption.

Ironically, they're the ones most likely to special order an item for a customer since they don't have a corporate bean counter breathing down their neck, determining how many inches of shelf space how high above the floor each item is allocated.

Realistically, I think most stores would do this if the wholesalers they already did business with carried the item. They're not going to open an additional account with another wholesaler in order to service one or a few customers, though. I have no idea how obscure this person's prefered brand is.

How many do you buy at a time? How many does the store have to buy to get enough of a discount to actually show a profit? Ah, fark it, the store should lose money so that I get what I want.

Does this include family owned stores, like Wal-Mart, and Albertsons? Frozen potatoes? Seriously, what are these? Like MacDonald's hash browns? or what? Why not just buy some fresh potatoes, and freeze them?
