Why does Harold Manners hate America?

I guarantee you that if these people would have been turned away from these rides there would still be an article, it would just be that they were discriminated against cause someone said something about their weight.

That's what they say they weigh. I don't believe it.

This reminds me of my honeymoon when my wife and I went to Walt Disney World. We got on the Tower of Terror at MGM and the lady next to us on our row had to weigh over 300 lbs. When the lap bar came down, it was a good six to eight inches above my waist and my wife's waist. When that thing started going, we were tossed around pretty well, and I was grabbing that bar for dear life while my wife dug her hands into my arm. They've replaced the bars with seat belts since then. I should have bought the picture at the end of the ride. Oh, fun with the obese at amusement parks.

Weight limits are so ignored in the US.

My Honda S2000 has a weight limit of 500 lbs. I weigh 205.

It does not take much to excede it when you think about it.

America is FAT!

You know how whales have to stay in the water, because they can't support their weight on dry land?

It's like that...

I went to Universal Islands of Adventure with friends a couple of years ago. One of my friends is deathly afraid of heights, but wanted to go on the Jurassic Park ride. The raft seats like, four or five people to a row and as we're being situated, she's desperately trying to push the lap bar down to a comfortable level, freaking out and screaming "Why won't it go any lower!" I look over and one of the people next to her is an obese woman, getting the bar slammed into her stomach rolls. I was dying of laughter, but really, isn't that risking our lives?

/why do lots of obese people go to amusement parks in the sweltering heat? I'm just sayin'...

kbarham 2008-07-27 08:54:22 AM

Yeah, the 11-year old daughter looks like she's carrrying octuplets. 120 pounds my ass.

If it would have been nice if the reporter had actually brought out a scale, and you know, did some fact-checking.

But a drawn-out multi-day controversy doesn't draw ratings like a quick, story-killing biatch-slap.

I love the father wanting to file a lawsuit and saying the park should take more responsibility in judging the riders' weights.

WTF? Like said above, he'd then be the guy to biatch that a "pimple faced moron ride attendant told me I was fat!!!!"

Personal responsibility. fark it at this point.

OK then, put a scale at the entrance to the queue next to the height line. Make up PVC pipe width gauges to go with the ones the ride ops have for height. It would certainly make my days at the park more amusing.

You know how whales have to stay in the water

One of these rides must place enormous stresses on a 300lb person's skeleton. Risk of spinal collapse? Definitely.

You'd think they'd stay off them for that reason alone, but nooooo, they're "normal" and should be doing "normal" things.

FTFA: But Harold Manners, whose daughter sustained bruises to her back in the first incident, says the park should examine potential riders more closely if their weight puts them at risk of injury.

Get your ass on the scale fatty, Sorry sir, your wife's ass is too big, she will have to ride in the next car.

And that kids, is why the amusement park is shy to ask/tell people about the weight issue. If they were to even ask, much less pull out a scale... Those fatties would be suing the park for the emotional distress, etc. etc.

ineedanap 2008-07-27 09:06:44 AM

NO, Its called personal responsibility, and YOU HAVE TO MAKE THAT DECISION YOURSELF. Just like when you decide to stop shoving food down your throat, but clearly these people have issues.

People like this make me so F'in angry, have some Fing accountability and personal respsonsibility.
I bet these are the same people who want the government to limit calories, and force restaurants to make food healthier, because, you know, those restaurants are forcing Americans to eat their crap.
