It is painful to watch that guy.

He really blows his own mind.

I feel like I just watched him jerk off.

That was totally void of any kind of emotion or soul.

I think it was a competition to get as many notes in as possible in the allotted time.

I've given up on submitting Tommy Emmanuel links since my stuff never gets greenlighted (poor pitiful me!), but I try to fit links into threads whenever possible. Kudos, submitter.

The guy can get a farkload of sweet sounds out of a guitar -- not always with speed, necessarily, but always with great feeling and showmanship. Here's another of his signature tunes (new window).

I've seen him live like five times at a local music festival in Kansas. He's the Yngwie Malmsteen of the acoustic guitar...a supershredder with neither taste nor feeling. If you could program a robot to shred, this is what it would sound like.

Beppe Gambetta, the Italian bluegrass whiz who also frequents the Walnut Valley Festival, is far more entertaining. YouTube him some time.

Wow, is that guy happy you've had the privilege of watching him play.

You need to see a variety of his stuff on YouTube. I saw him last month in NYC, and is amazing to see live. He plays songs with plenty of soul. Acoustic Guitar Magazine named him best guitarist for the past few years. Sure, he may not come off as having "no emotion" when he plays this fast, but what do you want him to do? Sway and tap dance while playing?
