Yeah, that was pretty cool. Good headline, cool link, inspiring speech snippet, and a couple of good looking guys. Can't think of anything more to ask for.

Take the cameras out of all those raised arms and ... well, you get the idea.

Yup.

Popularity = Nazis. Nice of you to get Godwin out of the way so early.

Pretty nifty. Plus that chick in the blue shirt has some nice cleavage.

There's only like 500 people in that picture, Obama's campaign is filled with liars.

200,000?

pfft

The women are all back stage (behind those blue curtains) waiting for a chance for a "pre-impeachment penalty".

Stupid liberal media - why aren't they giving equal coverage to the awesome panorama of 2 people who greeted John McCain at Country Kitchen Buffet?

Holy crap, someone there is actually waving an american flag.

Haven't seen that in ages.

No one is saying it is a fake picture. Whether there were 200k people there or not is certainly debatable. From that picture alone it certainly doesn't look like 200k.

slobarnuts 2008-07-26 03:42:52 PM

muck4doo: No one is saying it is a fake picture. Whether there were 200k people there or not is certainly debatable. From that picture alone it certainly doesn't look like 200k.

My point was more about how ridiculous it is to even worry about how many people were there. Weather someone gave an estimate of tens of thousands or thousands or two hundred thousand, the fact is, A shiat TON of people saw him. For some people, they have to find fault in that somehow. Actually they look for fault in just about everything he does or says. Or even in things he doesn't do or say. The key there is the looking for fault... That is the ONLY thing they're looking for. Any minor misstep in his speech, any sort of mincing of his words to try and make him appear to say things he did not, or even "the estimate of people who went to see him is wrong".

I understand that is par for the course, but it is tiresome when you see people make mountains out of molehills and see words twisted around until their original meaning is completely lost. I know it's too much to ask to see that kind of behavior disappear and for people to act rationally and honestly in regards to our politics and our political figures, but it is still every bit as disappointing to me when I see those kinds of things go on.

Regardless of the exact number, the attitude from the political spokespeople of Germany is that Obama garnered a larger audience than any of their politicians could hope to.

The dudes got popularity.

It won't change. It's hardwired into the human brain. In some more so than others. It doesn't matter what a persons political leanings are. People like to believe they are right, and will use anything to discredit someone who disagrees with them.

Including lies or half truths. I don't think everyone is like that though...

As an example, if I run across someone who has an honest gripe that is backed up by fact, I don't try and spin lies around the subject just to discredit them.

The thing I can't get my head around is the vicious glee that some McCain supporters seem to take in even imaginary Obama setbacks. 'OMG! Obama stubbed his toe! That had to hurt! AHAHAHA!'

My father falls into this catagory. I had the weirdest conversation with him last night:

Dad: 'did you see that talk radio was really slamming Obama's speech today?'
Me: 'um...no. I was farming for an epic mount on my warlock alt and paying the bills on this house.'
D: 'oh. well - you should have heard it! they were really beating up on his speech!'
M: 'who's show were you listening to anyway?'
D: 'Rush Limbaugh.'
M: 'gee. Rush Limbaugh disapproving of an Obama speech. Nope, never saw that one coming.'
D: 'You aren't taking this seriously enough!'

It is funny how when you see a crowd of Germans, some of them look like the stereotypical Nazis. Not saying that they are Nazis, but if you stuck them in the uniform they could play the part.

/And the arms in the air but with cameras is funny too.

probably because they are descendants, some easily first generation descendants, of the germans who wore those uniforms.

Sometimes I wish that was the case. Part of the problem is that he's been unemployed for 5 years now, has very few friends and he's broke. So he sits around the house watching Fox news and listening to Rush Limbaugh and Laura Engram (I think that's her name) all day long and then tries to tell me that Obama is going to end life in the universe as we know it.

Personally, I don't give a damn. both of the candidates are gonna raise my taxes and nobody is gonna repeal the patriot act. But apparently I can't get away from this crap even when all I really want to do is just tune it out for a while. Dad is there on the spot whenever Obama stubs his toe, viciously gleeful about the guy's misfortune.

Take a cam corder and hook it up to your TV so that whatever you point the camera at is what's shown on the TV screen (think of a Best Buy or Walmart demo display).

Then aim the camcorder at the television screen itself.

Bricks will be shat.

Seeing a huge crowd of people in Europe waving the American flag, today, was one of the coolest things I've seen in years.

I think this country is going to recover.

We'll get the housing market back where it's supposed to be, after the lenders and borrowers get past their crack hangover. We'll get off oil. We'll get out of Iraq. People in other countries will, in time, learn to trust us again.

We're going to be OK.

/oh, and WTF with all the hotties in that crowd? Cha.
