What if you are an atheist, can you bring your grenades then?

The Allegheny County Bomb Squad removed the device from the emergency room, which was not evacuated.

Just another day at the office.

I'm old enough to remember when you could get a smoking room at the hospital.

Somehow I read this first as a colonically-impacted grenade. "guy walks into the ER...."

/sssh, not so loud, everybody will want one

Was it the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch?

FTFA: A hospital employee does not believe the grenade was live.

Okay, maybe they have the skills...

But skip that and assume it was a paperweight. It's not difficult at all to make them almost-real. Real boom, anyway.

There's a BBC documentary, Death In Gaza, that chronicles the adventures of three british filmmakers as they live among the Palestinians in Israel.

They interviewed an eleven-year-old boy working for Hamas as a nighttime scout. On camera, he showed the filmmakers how to create a live grenade from scrap parts, warning them all the while how dangerous and easy it was to screw up.

Human ingenuity astounds me sometimes.

The Required Quote from Monty Python for this Thread

First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin.

Then, shalt thou count to three, no more, no less. Three shalt be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shalt be three. Four shalt thou not count, nor either count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three.

Five is right out.

Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thou foe, who being naughty in my sight, shall snuff it.

I remember when my grandfather was in the hospital with terminal emphysema. He had a smoking room, AND OXYGEN!

Since I was only about 6 I didn't get the awesomeness of that...

Well, if you've ever been to the ER in a county hospital a grenade is about the only way a Doc will see you before your compoundly fractured arm heals itself or the 5-staple-needing-gash in your leg grows back together.

Alias My Dad was allowed to smoke in his room in 1993. Are you really that young?

ski9600: I'm old enough to remember when you could get a smoking room at the hospital.

my first job was as a nurses' aide-I remember patients smoking in their rooms. this was especially popular in the psychiatric unit...

"A hospital employee does not believe the grenade was live."

Well, there is a quick way to find out...

Trivia: Alcohol is not allowed in hospitals either. A family member of mine got busted with a flask in the emergency room.

/facepalm

...but it's a medical hand grenade. I have a note.
