Are they all gonna scoop their mids and play through crappy solid state amps?

Lars plays a wicked game of miniature golf and I've heard he collects antique Kewpie dolls.

Man, I wish I had the money to fly out to Texas and attend Ozzfest.

1. Name myself after a cheap bag of weed to impress stoners.
2. Play guitar real fast.
3. Profit.

There was a tribute concert for him, I have a bootleg of it. A bunch of different singers filled in for him, I only remember Maynard and Phil Anselmo but there were others.

As much as Alice in Chains is my all time favorite band, I hate to see them have to use the AIC moniker to continue. Cantrell's solo albums kicked arse! And that concert they did was a charity event to raise money for Tsunami relief, not really a tribuete to Layne. I really believe he didn't want to be remembered and probably had a clause in his will to reflect that.

That said, this concert would kick axe!

I think the "Diamond" was a holdover from when Pantera was a glam band, and I imagine he just thought it didn't sound tough enough once they started getting more popular. Kind of like the wrestler formerly known as "Stunning" Steve Austin.

/I only noticed Darrell's switch because he was a columnist for Guitar World around that time, and I think he actually mentioned it in his column or an interview or something.

and besides, who do think inspired these "any hackass bands" to pick up a guitar in the first place?

Saddest day of my life was in December 04. I still have nightmares from that night at the Alrosa Villa. They wasn't even 30 seconds into their set when Dime was shot.

that line up would have been cool to see...in 1993.

I prefer the tribute song Zakk did, as well as the 'tribute' Machinehead did.

/Machinehead wrote a song about the guy who attempted to play off Dimebags death as a good thing
//Aesthetic of Hate - Machinehead (new window)
///In This River - Zakk Wylde (new window)
////Zakk also did a tribute song for Layne

So Dime inspired Metallica, Slayer, and Anthrax?
Huh...learn something new every day.

That last note in "Cemetery Gates" still gets me. I can't think of another guitarist that does stuff like that.

you really feel like vin would let phil get his hands on some of dime's old recordings? he banned him from the funeral, so i would think not...

In This River was written before Dime was killed, but Zakk does dedicate it to him each night it's played.

Zakk also wrote a tribute to Shannon Hoon from Blind Melon on the Book of Shadows album, named "Throwin' It All Away".

Plus, despite Alice in Chains being one of the best bands of the 90s, so many bands inspired off of them in the latter years have been horrible. Godsmack and all of those you hear on the radio with obvious AiC influences just don't cut it.

How about honoring Layne Staley while you're at it.
