(Contact Music) Stupid Tom Waits promoters tackle new policy against ticket scalping, now demanding ID at the door. Hang on St.Christopher, you mean all the gin soaked boys who paid 16 shells from a thirty-ought six can't sell their tickets? Bunch of rain dogs   (contactmusic.com) divider line 31

When I saw him live in 06, we had to show ID to get our tickets. No big deal.

THE LARGE PRINT GIVETH AND THE SMALL PRINT TAKETH AWAY

This would be wonderful news to me if he was coming anywhere near the Northeast on this tour. I'd like to see him once before he dies.

All scalpers should be captured and chained to a stock in every town square where they operated. Tickets will be sold to all the residents of the community that they stole from, and the ticket holders will be allowed to do anything to the scalpers that they want short of murdering them.

They'll take my scalped tickets away when I'm deep in the cold, cold ground.

This is all fine and good since when I go to a show I never talk to strangers. Hang down your head and avoid the scalpers.

/he's gotta play NorCal in the fall, farker lives here

we should check ID's of anyone willing to pay to see Tom Waits

/that way we can round them up and store them off shore with Buffet and Newman fans

That is one massive pile of fail there, my friend. Tom Waits has NOTHING in common with either of those guys.

The bats are in the belfry
the dew is on the moor
where are the arms that held me
and pledged her love before
and pledged her love before

It's such a sad old feeling
the fields are soft and green
it's memories that I'm stealing
but you're innocent when you dream
when you dream
you're innocent when you dream

Running through the graveyard
we laughed my friends and I
we swore we'd be together
until the day we died
until the day we died

I made a golden promise
that we would never part
I gave my love a locket
and then I broke her heart
and then I broke her heart

/ loves me some Tom Waits...he is crazy in concert too!

How can anyone familiar with Randy Newman's or Tom Waits' music possibly compare them to Jimmy Buffet? Is this a troll?

Too be fair, Tom Waits' early stuff is very much in the vein of Randy Newman. (I don't want to see anybody shooting down Randy Newman though, he is one of the most important songwriters of his era, especially before he started doing movie songs to make rent)

Why on earth would this thread get a stupid tag. The Id system worked great in St. Louis. Great show

/Love Tom Waits music
//Can understand why some people don't

I can't believe you just put Tom Waits in the same category as Buffet and Newman.

Just thinking out loud here, but if I buy tickets for my friends and they pay me back, does that mean I'm the only one that can get in? Or do I get to give out the names of my peeps when I buy the tickets? Or does everyone have to buy their own ticket?

/Maybe this would be relevant if I had friends
//or went to shows

HERO tag needed. Not that I like Scary Tom. Actually, his music doesn't bother me so much as the fact that he's farking scary. Scary Tom. Tom the Scary Guy. Scary.

Heck, I'd put up with a cavity search to see him perform.

Tell me, what's it like to expose your utter lack of knowledge about music on teh intarwebs? Personally, I'm not sure I could handle all the pointing and laughing.

"Foreign Affairs" is one of my favorite albums of all time. If all I gotta do is pay for a ticket and provide ID, I'd call that a bargain.

The Buffett fans are likely to share their booze with us. That's not the worst idea I've heard. =D
