No. Next question.

Yes they did, and so did those Liberals the Berlin Police.

Obama is so powerful that he got the German police to spin for him!

Tigger [TotalFark] 2008-07-25 11:45:22 AM
God you people are farking pathetic.

My favorite is 'did they delay the start to allow people to show up'.

So your whole thing is Obama is evil because sometimes people are late.

Subby, I'd be happy to discuss this with you, but only after I hit you with a rock for the newsflash abuse.

Better late than pregnant. Why does Obama hate babies?

Yes they did. Germans have a history of spinning numbers, like in the Holocaust.

My Liver Hurts 2008-07-25 11:49:02 AM
No. The 200k number came from Der Spiegel, not the Obama camp, and the crowd looked a wee bit larger than 20k.

Typical Republican propaganda to try to stay away from any kind of change.

"Oh we have someone here that is going on a European and Middle East tour to try to repair and recreate America's creds in the world. So lets bash him."

I heard it was only 2,000 people and they were all just there to see the band.

i heard obama went into a restaurant and that he ate everything in the restaurant and that they had to close the restaurant.

well I heard that obama sleeps in an oxygen tent which he believes gives him sexual powers!

/retarded

I heard about Obama's FISA vote and it pisses me off. His post-vote explanations were weaselly. I'm still going to most likely vote for him but he's going to have to lay off the shenenigains if he wants to be a two-termer. I want him to work in a direction, not in a spin.

/not retarded

Exactly. They said 0, turned out it was 6 million. So, I'm actually pretty sure somewhere around the population of China was at that speech.

...and his foreign policy ideas are starting to sound like a "more thoughtful world police force", and theres a chance he'll end up funneling even more money to "faith based groups", and with a democratic congress theres almost no chance federal spending will be reduced at all.

But he's also still damn intelligent, seems pretty farking competent and makes McCain look like a paste eating kindergardener so, yeah, he definitely still has my vote.

Yes yes and yes.

Plus I believe that he realizes that the mission is "get out of iraq / get back to fighting the real threat in Afghanistan/Pakistan" and I really don't get the impression that McCain sees that at all.

Well now you've opened the thread up to Godwins and comparing Bushes to Hitlers. Have you ever seen the undoctored footage from the Nuremburg rally? There was like 6 people there, 2 of which heckled him. They altered it all man.

If all the Germans in the whole damn country had shown up, does that make a difference? It's pretty clear that he's popular in Germany.

Incidentally, it's clear that Obama could have turned out a similar crowd in Paris, but his campaign was worried that a French event would open him to criticism.

Bucky Katt [TotalFark] 2008-07-25 12:34:41 PM
20,000? are they kidding? looked more like 19,395 to me.

Because we all know how little the German police care about such minor details as how many people where in the damn crowd they had to control.

Good lord people.

No.

FTFA: The 200,000 figure would also be attributed to the Berlin police -- which might represent the first time in modern history that the police and the organizers of a political rally agreed on their estimates of crowd size.

Anyways, it sure does beat McCain's speech he made in the cheese aisle the other day in front of a crowd that I'm sure almost reached double digit figures.

Darconix: You'd be all over this if McCain attended a pancake breakfast for 20,000 Evangelicals, but it was reported as being 200,000 strong

Because McCain couldn't even fill an IHOP on a Sunday at noon, if his campaign was buying for everyone in attendance.

AdolfOliverPanties [TotalFark] 2008-07-25 12:45:38 PM
It was only 2,000, but then Obama used his Jesus Powers to multiple the crowd as if they were fishes and loaves.

Why do the Obamanuts feel it necessary to dismiss any possible transgression as irrelevant before it's even determined? I admit I'm skeptical of the claim that only 20,000 showed up when the police force agreed with the 200,000, but seriously, guys. You'd be all over this if McCain attended a pancake breakfast for 20,000 Evangelicals, but it was reported as being 200,000 strong.

Why the double standard?

Hey, AssOutOfYouAndMe Guy, I think Obama is maybe the worst thing that could happen to the US right now. I think he's got the leadership skills of Jimmy Carter and the policies of LBJ all rolled into one. I just think it doesn't make any difference how many Germans slob his knob, and I point and laugh at any GOP partisan hack who thinks otherwise.

And most of that crowd was there to see the band get free cheese samples. Hell, I'd have gone myself for free cheese samples.

Nice strawman. There is no double standard. The German police agreed with the numbers Obama's campaign gave. This is a complete and utter non-story no matter which candidate it's about. It's a dishonest article that itself is trying to spin the issue but in the second to last paragraph completely proves its argument wrong.

Well, perceptions for starters. Obama is looking pretty presidential right now, making solid speeches in front of tens or hundreds (depending on who you choose to believe) of thousands of people and doing a fine job of representing America. Meanwhile your guy spoke at a German restaurant and bought ads in towns named Berlin.
