I'm starring to see a pattern here.

The RNC is now run by Kindergartners.

Amateur night at the presidential campaign.

You know, only one candidate has approved attack ads so far, the other one is leaving that to the 501's. The party that run's attack ads in my Wisconsin market is much less likely to be getting my endorsement.

Well, bless their little hearts, that is so cute! Can those tiny little fists they're shaking get any tinier?

How do they feel about this in Freedom Lick, Indiana?

keylock71 2008-07-25 08:57:56 AM
Yeah, that's dumb... and most likely to backfire on them.

I don't really see any downside. It's kind of clever actually.

Berlin, PA is in the middle of farking NOWHERE. It's one of those places where people cling to their guns and religion and their hatred of darkies. It's the sort of place where someone will start a sentence about Obama with "I'm not a racist, but..."

Honestly, why the GOP is wasting their ad revenue on a place that will vote overwhelmingly for them is beyond me.

I sounds like a very small ad placement, and they have a lot of money. As the article says, it's a little jab. Not the end of the world either way.

If McCain was serious about this, he wouldn't have missed Berlin, New Jersey. Now I'll never trust him to put forth a complete effort.

unfortunately, clever does not equate to useful. unless those three cities are some type of important swing votes and i haven't realized it.

Agreed. This is definitely the worst campaign move in the history of campaigning, judging by the reaction on Fark.

Even though he can draw a crowd of 250,000 in Berlin, Germany, he should be more concerned with the 100 he could draw in any of the Berlin, USA's.

At least, I would want my president to be.

Demetrius [TotalFark] 2008-07-25 09:26:50 AM
What about Berlin, CT? Is it because they pronounce it BERL-in instead of ber-LIN?

Nestea Plunge: What do the ads say? "Obama is a poopyhead"?

I'm sure they say nothing new. The point was the choice of markets, and actually the story about the ads is getting wider coverage.

I dunno. There are omg americans who live in Germany. Likeeee... all the US soldiers stationed there, like a friend of mine and her husband.
Just because they live abroad doesn't mean they're no longer americans.

Nay. His speech was definately directed toward the Germans, not the U.S. citizens there. He fed them that citizens of the reich world stuff that they gobble up.

Now now. At least the south has good food. No need to go comparing them to a shiathole like Berlin, PA.

Interestingly enough the Germans themselves seem to understand that Obama's target audience is still US citizens - regardless of where he happens to be standing at the time or how many foreigners he is addressing.

Here is a link from a German web site ^in case you are interested in having a more informed opinion.

Ahhh...what part of Berlin, NH do you consider nice? The abandoned paper mills or the part of the Androscoggin river that's still green from when they were in use?

Is it possible that *gasp*, part of the speech might have been directed at Americans and part might have been directed at Europeans? I know it's hard to accept, but just widen your mind a little.

You just totally, like, blew my mind dude. Speeches are only intended for the audience that's right in front of the guy! Not to millions of other people possibly watching somewhere else!

Wisconsin's is actually New BER-lin, not just Ber-LIN. (Unless there's another Berlin in WI that I don't know about.) I don't know how accurate this is, but I heard that they changed the pronunciation from New Ber-LIN to New BER-lin during one of the world wars.

Anyways, I'm tired of the faux outrage over this.

Didn't you get the memo? When a Republican or a Founding Father does it, it's pragmatic realism. When a Democrat does it, it's suspicious and vaguely seditious.

no we do have a Berlin as well. they were in my High school conference before my school went to the Valley 8 conference with Hortonville. Berlin HS had a hawt dance squad and it's tricky to hide a stiffy when you're wearing a wrestling singlet.

berlin, ny is getting shiat on in this. why leave their 1,901 people out. oh wait, mccain won't have a chance to carry ny anyway, so why bother

this would actually be a great idea for a more protectionist, populist type of guy, like Huckabee. "i care more about berlin pennsylvania than i do about berlin germany." it falls flat with mccain because, well... everything he does falls flat. the man has no coherent belief system aside from generalized good feelings about war. everything he says aside from advocacy of permanent, purposeless war sounds like he's summarizing a magazine article someone else told him about.

The difference between reality and what the press reports on is stark -- if they bothered to actrully cover what Flapjacks and the RNC was up to, they'd be polling at 20%.

Instead they're busy spicing together interviews to get McCain intelligible.

Out of touch and diluted doesn't even begin to describe McCain and the RNC.
