Problem is, Obama has been beating McCain when it comes to the economy for a little while now. Obama has taken an entire trip to cut into McCain's lead on foreign policy (McCain making the only gaffes of the trip as well).

During all of this the best the McCain campaign can come up with is: "B-b-but the surge!!!"

I don't see how Obama making this trip and gaining major creds with McCain still not able to gain the lead isn't a major win for Obama.

i love how news outlets will take data from a general poll right after an event like this and if suddenly obama isn't ahead instantly by 90% to 10%, they're all like AH HA HA HA HA HA your plan was useless!

Well, I don't know that I really agree with Obama that we should be learning French and German. But we should be speaking more than just English.

So that has what bearing on this? Perhaps him not knowing one has made him realize how powerful of a tool that it is and understands how the United States would be better off by learning other languages.

My father can't speak anything but English but he's always pushed for me to learn a new language because of how many doors it opens. The fact that it's been proven to help increase test scores and mental dexterity being just a small added perk.

I don't speak a foreign language and I agree with Obama. I tried to learn Spanish and Japanese and it. . . didn't go well either time.

We need to start foreign language ed in kindergarten or first grade, when kids are good at that kind of stuff. At that age math and science are beyond almost everyone, but language learning is at its peak.
