I was thinking of this picture when I read the review. I call it when "The Sublime Met the Ridiculous".

/If you don't know which one is sublime. We can't be friends.
//Really.
///Hint: It's the one the slashies are pointing to.

The slashies are pointing right up at Jessica Simpson... and she's not sublime.

It's better than her pop. I'll leave it at that

FTA - I'm doing what I love and dating a boy," Simpson said.

One of the more mind-numbing quotes I've heard from this dunce.

"She doesn't fit in with country, and I'll have to drink a lot of beer to sit through her concert."

So she's a lot like Garth Brooks?

I thought not fitting in with country was a requirement for country stars these days?

/Shania Twain is not country
//Not like Garth Brooks is not country - like Depeche Mode is not country

I'll have to drink a lot of beer to sit through her concert

So...pretty much my response to every country concert you'd attend, I'd think. (In my case, beer+thorazine.)

Why would anyone care she's doing country, when there are a thousand actual country singers doing it a thousand times better?

She fits in with what's now called "country" as well as about anyone else the music industry is pimping these days. It's all the same crap. Here comes another one just like the other one.

/works in country radio
//not a fan of mainstream country music

From TFA: Country music fans are probably the toughest music critics around.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Her single "Come on Over" fits in with pretty much every other single in hot rotation right now. Not much different than Underwood, Swift, et cetera.

//I hate country music

I'm sorry, but if it isn't reminiscent of Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Hank Williams or one of their peers, it's not country music. A little slide guitar here and a slight vocal twang there does not make it country music.

It's pop with an artificial country flavoring - like the butter they put on the popcorn at the movies.

/best country disc I've heard lately was done by a member of Neurosis
//Steve Von Till's "A Grave is a Grim Horse"

"She's an embarrassment to country music," he added.

That's like calling Jeb Bush an embarrassment to George W. Bush.

Hooray, local paper in the news!

Anyway. I work at a liquor store a mile and a half from a massive country music festival in SE Wisconsin at which she performed. I don't think a single drunk redneck told me how much they loved her performance during our obligatory small talk as I scanned their PBR and beef jerky. They wouldn't shut up about the rest of those miserable twangy pop singers, though.

She should name her new country album, "Chicken of the Sea"

That's more of a referendum on Underwood and Swift.

/also a country DJ
//loves country
///hates Underwood and Swift
