Rudy, Rudy, Rudy, Rudy...really, man, give it up. This presidential campaign should have been enough to convince you to never run for public office again.

/plus, don't most NYCers hate him?
//9/11

Um..where do NYCers go when they get old and tired of NY? There are probably 20 times the number of voting NYers there.

Rudi thinks Florida has some kind of magical powers, or some such.

His campaign will be centered on saving New York from an attack so brutal, it will be 9/11 times 2.

Yes, he's trying to save them from 1822.

Him and Ponce de Leon both, but I don't even think the fountain of youth is going to bring back Rudi's political career. 9/11.

Every post in this thread should end with 9/11. 9/11.

So what you're saying is...he thinks that if he convinces the Florida ex-NYC geriatrics to like him, he can transfer that back to New York in for a gubernatorial run?

Sorry, I'm a bit out of it today.

Paterson never saw 9/11 so Giuliani has the advantage there. Though the photos of Giuliani in drag might hurt himself.

Rovian 2008-07-19 03:08:35 PM
Isn't Giuliani still paying off the debt from his last campaign? A strange position for the most electable republican during the primaries.

Well, as blind as Patterson is, he managed to find his way to WNY more times than Guliani did when Rudy was running for Senate.

Which means Patterson passes the "can he find Buffalo if he gets on the I-90 going west" test, which Guliani keeps failing.

So don't hold your breath waiting for Mayor 911 becoming Governor.

You're assuming that a) Patterson will run, b) he will win the primary (don't underestimate Skippy Cuomo's ambition, and Hillary may see it as low hanging fruit), and that c) the WNY vote will matter in the face of the NYC suburban vote. All that said, I'm not holding my breath. I'd love to see him try, only to lose the primary to Golisano.

True... But it's been really tough for anyone to get elected statewide if they ignore everything west of the Hudson. The last guy that did that was Hugh Carey. Cuomo light has been to Buffalo more times than Mayor 911, Golisano lives in Rochester and owns the Sabres. All three of them will get votes in WNY before Mayor "Is Niagara spelled N-I-A-G-R-A?"

Cromar 2008-07-19 03:27:02 PM
I wish Rudy would run for something in Florida...so I can vote for him. It can be dog catcher, I don't care. As long as he doesn't piss me off with the 9u11iani ads like he did during the primary, I'll vote for him.

You're assuming that Patterson drives his own car, which seems unlikely. ;)

If Hillary was the kind of gall who liked low hanging fruit, Bill wouldn't have needed Monica. ;-)

I'd love to see him try, only to lose the primary to Golisano.

There's a name we haven't heard in a few years. The guy who literally can't buy an election. Ahh, brings back memories of '02.

After all those years with Pataki, it's too bad Spitzer turned out to be a john. Republicans in Albany are murder for the western NY economy.

I don't know how he does it, but if a blind guy can find Buffalo, and Mayor 911 can't, I think that says something about relative intelligence levels between the two.

In fairness, he got cancer and dropped out before the race really got underway. It was that putz who replaced him who spent the whole campaign on Long Island issuing press releases reminding people that his name is not Clinton while Hillary was visiting every dog-crap hamlet in WNY promising to keep milk prices artificially high and remembering when those guys had jobs.

When he loses, they won't have Rudy Giuliani to kick around any more.

Frankly I'd rather have Paterson than that fearmonger Giuliani. 9/11.

Gulper Eel [TotalFark] 2008-07-20 11:02:56 AM
Rudy running for governor sounds like a stupid idea, and then you look around at what passes for a Republican party in New York and realize it's the least stupid idea.

I mean, at this point it's either him or Al D'Amato.
