Always thought that "You Belong to Me" was a beautiful song.

When I think of Jo Stafford, I think of that song.

I have You Belong to Me and Tim-Tayshun on my ipod. She was allowed to cut albums during the war. I have some of those. She cut a lot of comedy albums but I'm not familiar with those, 'cept for Tim-Tayshun. I've always been fond of her.

They dont make singers like her anymore...<sigh>

Jo and husband Paul Weston created alter egos Jonathan and Darlene Edwards, a horribly untalented New Jersey lounge act. He played piano off-tempo, she sang a half-note sharp, in a warbly vibrato. They released a few albums in the early '60's, then retired, coming out of retirement briefly in the '70's to record "Stayin' Alive" and "I am Woman." All of their songs can be found on a greatest hits collection. Awesome stuff.
