Why did they keep rebuilding it and blowing it up 5 times? Must have taken them years to produce.

i always wanted to see a building demolition in person, but i'm always finding out about them post-implosion.

ultraholland 2008-07-19 01:10:38 PM
If you look at the 4 frames at 0:12 you can clearly see a missile enter the building from the north. This was no regular demolition you farking sheep.

sorry, needs MS silverlight, I'll pass. Too bad, sounds cool.

nice, thanks subby!

/don't know who did it, but we'd like them to quote for the next demolition in Canberra, Australia.
//And that really is obscure!

Yeah...the CIA was in there in the days prior. They worked under the guise of "construction workers" while the rigged the place with explosives.

What the hell is Microsoft Silverlight? Is it submitter's new version of a rickroll?

FriarReb98 [TotalFark] 2008-07-19 01:38:31 PM
Why didn't they take the windows out first? Never seen the windows left in before....

FriarReb98: Why didn't they take the windows out first? Never seen the windows left in before....

Duh, if the NSA and Massad had taken the windows out, people would have been onto their plan.

MortalComedy 2008-07-19 01:46:57 PM
The windows were out. This building is/was directly across the street from where I work. I watched them prep the building for demo over the last few months.

Mega_Doof 2008-07-19 01:49:00 PM
Where's my chicken wire, brick and charcoal briquettes model to prove this was a controlled demolition?

ABQGOD 2008-07-19 01:49:17 PM
Thanks to the buffering, the whole thing was in super slo-mo.

@20 sec: "Disco?"

So you were in on it too!

Does the fact that the end was edited for slow-mo no longer make this "raw" footage?

/I mean, technically speaking...

usrid0 2008-07-19 02:00:35 PM
What does "raw video" even mean?

Smack Of Ham 2008-07-19 02:01:31 PM
It was pulled. Did Silverstein have a policy on this one too?

Buildign doesn't didn't look that old.

Raw video means unedited. I would have described the clip as a montage.

The terrorists have won. I could hear them cheering as it crashed down.

The best part was when the building fell down.

Sooooo... what were those shiny reflective things in the holes where the windows go? Window ghosts?

JustTheTip 2008-07-19 02:29:14 PM
Wow - that controled demolition looks just like what would happen if an airplane hit another building nearby...

/ducks

I was going to take the kids with me and go watch it but decided against it since it was going to be at 7:00 a.m..

/not disappointed

Works in IE Tab.

I always feel a little remorse for the people that build the buildings and bridges that are demolished. The workers put their lives into the structures and were able to see the efforts of their labor everytime they looked upon the building. Then, in seconds, it's gone. Good job folks, the building was a fine one.

usrid0: What does "raw video" even mean?

It means that they haven't added captions or talking heads to the video. There is no newscaster describing what you are seeing. It's basically just the video with no additional frills.

/slow motion is a frill

Goofball_Jones 2008-07-19 03:56:24 PM
This is obviously after the Bush administration changed the way buildings are to be demolished now...instead of how we all know they used to be demolished.

Charges were always put into buildings to explode at the top and then pancake downwards bringing the building down...a textbook example of this is with the controlled demolitions of the WTC on 9/11...but since so many eagle-eyed structural engineers have pointed out the obvious demolitions they had to redo how buildings are brought down so they can show the public "see, this is how it's done" to help with the cover-up.

/why yes...yes I am mocking the "Truthers"

I wondered about that too. The explosions are clearly visible and the "windows" remain intact dispite the over pressure. Perhaps they were replaced with plastic.

Anyone know?

At 1:04 you can see the glass blowing out.
