This just perpetuates the stereotype of the stupid, obsessed NASCAR fan! Not everyone who watches NASCAR is stupid enough to pay for a hit with memorabilia!

Was it this guy?

In May, Detective Steve Shelly posed as a potential hit man.

He's also a great drummer.

Is it just me, or has there been a rise in hit man related stories on Fark? There's also entirely too little 47 references.

Yeah, the guy was a drug dealer--why not pay in drugs?

There was an article in Texas Monthly a coupla' years back about a fake hit man. He was an undercover cop, and people would hire him to kill someone. A fair number of the charges didn't stick, as people argued entrapment, but, even weirder, the purported victim really frequently forgave the person who'd been trying to get them killed. You wonder how many then ended up dead.

How bad have you got it?

After providing a large trash bag of NASCAR memorabilia to Shelly, Jacob Bridges then made a cutting motion with his hand across his throat.

...you might be a redneck!
Still trying to picture what dad & son look like.

Good morning!

No, this is (probably) not a picture of the father/son team.

Hope the hotlink holds up.

If I walk into your house and you have all 8 collectible KFC NASCAR buckets, I will beat you in the head with a chicken leg.

Rednecky Karma? This dumbass will now spend years in prison for trying to bribe someone with NASCAR crap. One less moron roaming the streets.

They need to make NASCAR labeled birth control.

I didn't think that that even people who collected NASCAR memorabilia were under the impression it was actually worth money.

My Southern family never had the NASCAR gene, thank Bob.

The opposite side is the 14m that Viagra pays each season for their sponsorship

As much as I like autosports as well as NASCAR I can't think of any collection/memorabilia that would be enough to pay for a hit (unless you were talking about an actual race winning car from Petty/Earnhardt)

Hate Fox for their F1 coverage, I want to go back to waking up at 4:15am to watch it live

Got nothing.
