He looks like he has to pee.

I was in love with him when I was about 9...good times, good times.

That was wrong on so many levels.

Are his feet nailed to the floor?

Oh god, the memories.

woodpecker from mars: Oh god, the memories.

I still have a couple of Partridge Family albums in my collection (yikes).

You know it's bad when Axl Rose is considered a better dancer.

When I was 10 I liked the Partridge Family, and he was great in Spirit of '76, but how did that guy flourish in the 70's? He's an awful performer.

I just bought a dance party remix cd of his greatest hits. He redid them with some producer named Craig J in 2007. Ooohhhhh boy is it bad. It's so bad it's good. BizarreRecords would understand.

David Cassidy=Rock-n-roll?

Not on my watch!

From the same era, but MUCH MUCH better.

Osmonds do "Crazy Horses." Awesome even if they weren't Mormon.

Arrg! This tread needs some 70's Rock and Roll earbleach

No, subby, this is 70's rock and roll the way it was supposed to be.

Thosw 2008-07-18 06:51:51 PM
Could have sworn this was going to be Gary Glitter.

DrBenway [TotalFark] 2008-07-18 06:59:58 PM
Could've been worse -- I was afraid it was going to be Gary Wright.

El Freak: No, subby, this is 70's rock and roll the way it was supposed to be.

Sorry. I am a huge Ramones fan, and they are the antithesis of 70s rock. That was the point.

Here is by far the best example of that the subby meant. (new window)

Hence why I said the way 70's rock and roll was supposed to be. Or should have been, rather.

It's sad that they glued his legs together like that backstage. Cruel, cruel prank to play on a guy right before he goes on.

Thank you Roto-Rot for the flash back. I was 11 when my brother bought "Kimono My House" and I memorized the whole thing.

OK so let's critique ...

Original submission: "Rock Me Baby" by David Cassidy.
Rather tepid white boy soul-infused pop performed by a guy whose stage presence is limited to standing in place looking like he has to pee. C-

Roto-Rot:
From the same era, but much better...: "This Town Ain't Big Enough" by Sparks.
One of the most underappreciated bands of the mid-1970s, performing one of their few stabs at mainstreamability. Bonus points for Hitler mustache. Seriously, name five people with that mustache. It's "Hitler, Chaplin and, um ... that dude from Sparks." B

Halfmast Trousers:
From the same era, but MUCH MUCH better. Osmonds do "Crazy Horses." Awesome even if they weren't Mormon.
This is a ridiculously cool tune from a most unexpected source. You could play this to 100 people and ask them to name the band and they would never come up with "The Osmonds." You still have to give demerit points for Jay Osmond's ridiculous dance moves, though. Someone should tell Mormons not to dance. Having long forgotten about this rare gem, I am inspired to now include it in my next mix for friends. B+

HERE's a version of "Crazy Horses" from TOTP that bumps it up to an A-, thanks to keeping Jay behind a friggin' drum kit instead of doing whatever that ridiculous dance was.
