Independent voters are still undecided because part of them, deep down inside of their bums, are hoping for someone better.

DrForrester 2008-07-18 01:13:19 PM
Hopefully both of them will decide soon.

I'm voting for Stupid McDumbass, as soon as I figure which one of the two that is.

scarmig 2008-07-18 01:13:46 PM
This independent voter can easily make a decision; none of the above ficktards.

christer 2008-07-18 01:13:47 PM
Probably bigots who can't justify voting for old man grumpus, and so they are stuck.

xanadian: Independent voters are still undecided because part of them, deep down inside of their bums, are hoping for someone better.

But would we be able to see that they were better or would the media simply dumb down every position and remove the nuance from ever previous vote in order to put them in preselected category?

FeBolas [TotalFark] 2008-07-18 01:30:35 PM
Huh. Maybe it's because people are learning they shouldn't make up their minds before all the info has been presented.

I'm in that boat.

I suspect people are waiting to see what happens with the economy between now and then.

Yes, I know the elections are under four months away, and that is a very small slice of an economic timeline. However, people are myopic and if they are undecided now they will probably vote according to how they feel the first week of November.

Mosey 2008-07-18 01:33:53 PM
I'll chime in. I am still not decided. I'll say their neither candidate is "bad" for me, in a ZOMG you SUCK way. Generally I lean economically conservative and socially "who gives a shiat" but am a pro-lifer so it isn't that easy.

I don't trust McCains age
I don't trust Obama's "dreams an rainbows" talk either.

I like McCain is making the budget deficit an issues
I dislike Obama has admitted anything he "saves" he will spend on more social programs

I dislike McCain is the "economist" on this because he doesn't seem all that bright on it.

People who are heavy, heavy "environment, we tell you what to do for your own good" annoy me.

People with cancer history and liver spots annoy me too.

Both say things they shouldn't. Obama seems to promise things without a plan or reality, McCain does too, but he also says just stupid shiat without being prepared for it.

Neither one will be bad, I just haven't decided who. Right now I am leaning BOB BARR because it is more of a third party vote and he is the most fiscally aggressive person on the ballot who doesn't entirely set off the crazy-o-meter.

I'm voting Libertarian, like usual.

Of course if the entire government was Libertarian, that would be bad, but getting a few into the Federal government could do allot of good. (Or at least make things interesting.)

airplayne 2008-07-18 01:38:47 PM
This is the year for an independent to make a bigger pull on the voters. Much more so than the Green Party did in 2000. We need to send a strong message to both of the major parties that we are tired of their shi'ite and won't put up with it anymore.

dwrash 2008-07-18 01:39:23 PM
Spanky_McFarksalot: I've pretty much decided on obama. Not because I buy into any of his crap, but because I'm sick of republicans in the white house.

The problem wasn't with a republican in the white house.. the problem is that a single party had control of the executive branch, the senate and the house.. a deadly combination.

Now we are voting to let the democrats have the same power and are naively thinking they won't abuse their power as the republicans did.

I predict that in 16 years, we will be saying the same thing about the democrats..

That'd be a huge advantage to McCain. He'd fight dirty and bite... probably even bite wee-wees if he had to.

TofuTheAlmighty 2008-07-18 01:44:21 PM
A large cohort of disaffected and ashamed Republicans now call themselves independent while an equally large cohort of former indies call themselves Democrats. The Republicanization of the self-described independent demographic is reflected by this poll result. If you could poll "independents" from 2004 now, they'd heavily support Obama.

Galen_Rasputin 2008-07-18 01:45:56 PM
Look the truth is we just want these two farkers to keep pandering to us. We have learned that if we make our choice then these farkers move on and try to hit up the next group of suckers, but if we keep staying "undecided" they both pander shamelessly to us.

Noekken 2008-07-18 01:45:59 PM
You know, for several years now I have been getting lots of email messages promising, nay . . . guaranteeing, that I will have 'longer and harder' elections.

Well, I never did click on the links or answer those email messages, but it seems that they held good on those guarantees 'cuz this has been the longest and hardest election process I have ever experienced.

See, Obama's prepared for this. At the beginning of the fight one of his staffers will crack open an Ensure and crank an episode of Matlock at full volume. McCain will be completely distracted. This is when McCain is at his weakest.

I think there is a lot of truth in this statement.

Very insightful...

Perhaps the nation should follow the example of California. If you fill the legislature with Dems, make sure the President is a Repub.
Then your comfortable little life is not threatened as nothing gets done.

Ja, we might have to rethink that, but still...

I'm an independent voter and have no idea who I will be voting for in November. I can't stand Obama, can't stomach the thought of voting for McCain, and am convinced that neither candidate is capable of fixing Bush's messes.

Will most likely vote for Bob Barr or Chuck Baldwin. This country desperately needs viable third parties.

/Do people really believe that the Republicans and Democrats are two different parties?

Not at all, Obama would just need to attack him from above. It's not like McCain could reach up to grab him or anything.

partisan222 2008-07-18 01:57:20 PM
Gee, the number of people who want to feel important by getting calls from interested pollsters and seeing news stories about themselves increased? Maybe it's because we pay attention to these people. Pay less attention to them and they'll go back to doing what they do best - also not paying any attention.

I'd lay my last dollar down that this is happening among a very narrow group of underemployed, undereducated people in middling states like Florida and Ohio and that "independent undecided" voters aren't increasing so much in the rest of the US.

Hobodeluxe [TotalFark] 2008-07-18 01:57:57 PM
this would have been a landslide if the corporate media wasn't so intent on preserving the status quo.
