Unlike the numerous monuments, memorials, and tributes to politicians, at least a sewage plant performs some useful function.

GAT_00 [TotalFark] 2008-07-18 01:41:01 AM
This still cracks me up. And being SF, I bet it passes.

DamnYankees [TotalFark] 2008-07-18 01:44:37 AM
While its funny, I don't like the idea of GWB even being remember by history for anything. Nothing would be better than for a man who believes history will vindicate him in 50 years to look back and say "who the hell was president before Obama anyway...?"

Lenny_da_Hog 2008-07-18 01:50:42 AM
Heh. Legacy, indeed.

Oh, he'll be remembered. He will be remembered as one of the worst presidents in history. His name will be one of the most tarnished in history. And I will laugh.

LeroyLeroy 2008-07-18 01:59:35 AM
I like that they even replace "Water Pollution Control Plant" with "Sewage Plant." George Carlin would approve.

SkinnyHead [TotalFark] 2008-07-18 02:01:35 AM
Seeing as how most of SF already smells like a sewer, this new George W. Bush Sewage Treatment Plant just might be the best smelling place in town.

Confabulat [TotalFark] 2008-07-18 02:02:26 AM
You know, that's hardly fair to the decent citizens who work there.

We're just one step closer to my dream of a Reverse Mt. Rushmore: George W. Bush, Buchanan, Pierce, and Carter.

We don't tend to remember bad presidents, though. The worst presidents get forgotten by most people - Buchanan, Harding, Pierce, Filmore, Andrew Johnson. They suck, and most Americans have a "who?" attitude about them.

I hate to say it, but this president bears remembering. Not in the good way, but still.

That's what liberals were saying about President Reagan 20 years ago. They were wrong. Today, people look back and say Reagan was good president. In the future, people will look back and say same thing about President Bush.

Did you earn a GED in History also? Or are you still writing your GED thesis on it?

I didn't learn about President Reagan in no history class. It wasn't that long ago.

eddyatwork [TotalFark] 2008-07-18 03:41:39 AM
I would love to see Bush in the same class as Garfield and Polk in presidents, as in..."dammit, I lost ten points on my history quiz because of that worthless fark!" Hell, Lincoln sucked ass and he is on the penny. Bush won't even get that dubious distinction.

no clever name here just move along 2008-07-18 04:13:49 AM
Now I have a reason to vote in November!!!

"you smell that?"

"..yeah, that's ahh.. George Bush."

The George W. Bush Shiat Collection and Dispersement Facility has a nice ring to it.

Cornwell [TotalFark] 2008-07-18 06:35:32 AM
Some people have a problem with this, of course...

http://thinkprogress.org/2008/07/14/opponents-say-san-francisco-sewer-plant-to o- useful-to-be-named-after-bush/

The only reason Jimmy Carter is still remembered is due to Bushbot apologists finding someone with an even lower approval-rating than Dubyah.

Doubtful. At least Reagan..whether you agreed with his politics or not.. accomplished something. Several things. He was successful in his aims. Bush isn't.

Bush's presidency will be defined by the invasion of Iraq which is widely viewed as a complete mistake and not just by liberals.

That and..you know, it wasn't that long ago. You don't have to be old to remember Jimmy Carter.

Actually, the further away we get from the Reagan years, the less successful he appears. It has become obvious that the Soviet Union was going to fall, he just happened to be there near its end. His supply-side economic is still causing havoc as some people somehow still think that it works.

Every time I drink a tax-free home brew, I remember Jimmy. Not too many Presidents out there that actually gave me a freedom.

Gen. Apathy 2008-07-18 07:57:06 AM
I think it is a good idea. Bush and the sewage plant are both full of shiat...

tomlennon [TotalFark] 2008-07-18 07:57:36 AM
Water quality in SF is headed into the single digits, prices will rise 300%, and desalinization plans will be pushed aside in favor of tar-pit water drilling

I get what you say man. Some of us were barely born back then so if it wasn't for history classes telling us about previous rulers no one would remember them.

neilio42 2008-07-18 07:58:57 AM
So, at least if this passes, the liberals will actually have accomplished something this year.

/self-voting: 6/10 (an extra point was added due to the difficulty of trying in the morning)

This is great, the smell of shiat will be forever linked to GWB. The only thing better would be the "George W. Bush Planned Parenthood Center"

randomjsa 2008-07-18 08:02:19 AM
It works.

Bush does have to deal with a lot of s*** that liberals spew out and come up with.

ha...good one.

How about the "George W Bush Simian Learning Center....he's not only the president, he's also a client."

Are you saying that Bush eats shiat and excretes clean water?

That's a fantastic claim. I require a demonstration.

They just sound silly at this point, dont they?

They missed the liberal bashing era of 4 years ago. Their kind is soon to be completely obsolete.

In short....ignore them and they'll go away, whether they want to or not.

ROTFLMAO!

sorry, pal - as time passes, more and more people are realizing that reagan was a pretty lousy president who just happened to be there when the soviet union collapsed. as for bush? well, let's just say that history will put him right up there with nixon, buchanan and harding. hell, he may be in his own league altogether. the only thing he has accomplished - the only thing (and half the country thinks it's a bad thing, btw) - is install a couple of conservative justices in the supreme court. every other thing he has touched has been an epic, colossal, massive failure. the economy. the war. the environment. health care. government... everything.

in fact, that's my reverse-rushmore: bush, nixon, harding and buchanan.

I am quite suprised that GWB hasn't found the money/need for another aircraft carrier - to be named after him - of course. Poppy did it. Maybe two. Show daddy up and then mommy will like me more.

FeFiFoFark 2008-07-18 08:14:07 AM
I think it should be named "The Chimpy McFlightsuit shiat Processing Facility", due in large part to his distinguished military career.

Remembering the bad Presidents is perhaps more important than remembering the good ones.

Those who cannot learn from history are doomed to repeat it.
