Cool. I'd vote for him.

Parts of it made me smile. You go, Mr. Tevis.

I'd donate except for the whole "non-US citizen" thing. What's your excuse?

Good luck, sir.

I love that I have no idea what party affiliation he holds. I assume it's not a non-partisan office.

Palmer Eldritch [TotalFark] 2008-07-18 10:12:52 PM
Donated and voted (for the Fark thread).

I_Hate_Iowa: I love that I have no idea what party affiliation he holds. I assume it's not a non-partisan office.

If you couldn't tell his affiliation in the first panel you haven't been paying attention to much of anything recently.

MrCab [TotalFark] 2008-07-19 09:57:50 AM
Hmm....I'll vote for the thread, but Ive never heard of the guy :(

Maybe it's cause I don't live in Kansas though

Spierdalaj 2008-07-19 10:07:36 AM
It's weird to realize that snarky FARK people are our future leaders.

Lawnchair 2008-07-19 10:13:53 AM
He's from Kansas. If he were a Republican, he'd have 74 giant dancing elephant GIFs on his page. The Dems tend to stay quiet about it.

I believe that snarky Fark people are our future
Give them lolcats and let them lead the way...

Spierdalaj: It's weird to realize that snarky FARK people are our future leaders.

It's mindboggling to realize that they would find it difficult to do a worse job than the present ones.

It's depressing that once they realize that, they will feel obliged to make a determined effort at doing so.

Klippoklondike 2008-07-19 10:15:42 AM
I liked that. Clever and idealistic. I just hope he doesn't get too bitter and cynical after its all over.

zelet [TotalFark] 2008-07-19 10:23:00 AM
He isn't in my district but I dropped him some cash. We need people with some common sense in office. Please donate (even if it's just a few bucks).

A lot of the ID stupidity started in Kansas and if we can get decent leaders maybe it'll die in Kansas.

KellyLockhart [TotalFark] 2008-07-19 10:31:26 AM
I find it amusing that he very quickly surpassed his 3,000 goal and is approaching 5,000 donaters.

jaylectricity [TotalFark] 2008-07-19 10:45:13 AM
Is it possible to have a thread ready to go green, then go green, then go back to ready to go green?

Come on, you're tripping me out here.

Unright 2008-07-19 10:49:54 AM
zelet: This is the current Representative. Yeah... please donate. We need less of this type of person in office.

What do you have against white people?

It's those rosy cheeks.

If that man were any whiter, there would be virtually no breaks in the visible part of his electromagnetic spectrum, and thus, it would be very hard to tell how far away he was, or how fast he was going, since redshift would be nearly undiscernible. THAT'S how white he is.

zelet [TotalFark] 2008-07-19 10:54:43 AM
Is it libel to say that somebody looks like a kid toucher? I always get my legal advice on Fark.

BTW, doesn't the Representative that I posted above (in the picture) look like the Principal from Napoleon Dynamite?

zelet [TotalFark] 2008-07-19 10:55:47 AM
A vote for Tevis is a vote against Whitey.

Nope. Plus, it's fun to do.

Nelson Mandella is a child raping crack fiend.

Mother Theresa had more cock in her than an Oklahoma hen house.

Al Gore has licked every hot dog sold in the United States.

But in all seriousness, that dude in the pic does have a first class pedo-smile.

KellyLockhart [TotalFark] 2008-07-19 11:21:01 AM
If all else fails, Tevis could be a comedy writer. This is from his blog:

Many front doors have a prominent "No Solicitors" sign displayed, which is a nice way of pointing out to hopeful door-to-door salesmen that the door will be shut on their face. Thankfully, as a politician, that sign doesn't pertain to me as I'm not selling anything. The trick, however, is to let people know that I'm not a solicitor.

I rang one doorbell and heard someone on the other side of the front door. I think they were looking at me through their peephole when I heard a man yell "No solicitors!" without even opening the door. "I'm not a solicitor!" I sort of yelled back through the door. "I'm a politician!"

There was a pause.

I wondered if he had gone away, and then he yelled back, "That's even worse!"

ShaniquaDon'tLiveHereNoMo' 2008-07-19 11:21:12 AM
I am running because I believe:

Kansans shouldn't be taxed on the food they buy.
Illegal immigration is an issue that we can address effectively.
Strong schools lead to broader, richer economic development.
Government can reduce costs and increase service.
Your government should be working to help you.

Sounds like this guy knows how to speak to Kansans.

Max Danger Power [TotalFark] 2008-07-19 11:25:40 AM
So because he is on the internet he is different from every other mouth-breathing politician ever, why? There are plenty of state representatives who hate abortion and censorship of the internet and want to tax the rich more. Politics will always be the same and the same song and dance will always appeal to the same people.

Sometimes you got to call a pig a pig.

Biological Ali 2008-07-19 11:26:43 AM
That was extremely clever. I wish this fellow well, and may death come swiftly to his enemies.

it's interesting that you cannot find a link to the 3000 donate page on the main page of his campaign. It is only easily found through Fark, Reddit and the like.

zelet: A lot of the ID stupidity started in Kansas and if we can get decent leaders maybe it'll die in Kansas.

Hey now, unfair. Intelligent design is not stupidity. If you ask, you'll find that the principles it espouses are actually held by a lot of very smart, even scientifically-minded people. Einstein, for example, believed in a God who "reveals himself in the lawful harmony of the world." Being smart doesn't have to mean being an atheist, and at its core, ID is a reflection of that.

However, it isn't science, and that's what the debate is about. It has no business being taught in schools. When you start treating this faith-based outlook as a scientific theory, and coming up with hobgoblins like "irreducible complexity" that are merely attempts to invalidate scientific (i.e. secular) evolutionary theory, then you've got stupidity.

I am disappointed in Fark. This was on digg and reddit days ago. I donated when was at around 700. This has to have hit Total Fark several times and just never got greenlit.

Please donate $8.88 to my campaign. Any amount with 88 cents at the end is flagged for me to let me know that it came from someone who I guess is a lot like me. You'll also be entered into a drawing to win a prize and it will help save the world. Thank you.

non-regressive taxation? We don't have regressive income taxation anywhere in America as far as I know. Is progressive taxation that bad of a dirty word that no one stands up and uses it proudly?

I realize that now. I didn't start thinking about it until I was looking at the rest of his site and his issues. The things he has on his site don't scream (D)! or (R)! to me.

just_dis_guy 2008-07-19 11:43:26 AM
At first glance he sounds like he's got his head screwed on straighter than a lot of elected idiots. I'm tempted to donate but will look through his official website before I make any decisions.

/knee jerk reaction is to "throw the bums out"

Well, at least he is younger, and more in touch with technology. Bet the RIAA hates this guy.

Let me clarify. The "ID stupidity" that I was talking about is the morons pushing it as science. I'm not an atheist. I subscribe to the idea that God "designed" evolution and other natural processes... sort of like a giant Rube Goldberg machine.
