Given Obama is competive in places like Montana and Virgina by using Deans 50 state strategy, I'd give him 4 more years as head of the DNC.

That would be "Four More Years" of Howard Dean as head of DNC.

...as head of the DNC, which he's arguably done a good job with.

I'm confused as to what the spectacle is here.

Sadly, Yes.

Four more years, why not. You can make all the scream jokes you want but he has been the most effective DNC chair in years.

The 50-state strategy was his brainchild, He implemented it against a lot of opposition and it worked. Can't argue with results.

I think this November is key. If the Dems can peel off a decent number of Congressional spots and Obama wins by a good margin, he'll be vindicated. If not, people will see 2006 as a fluke and kill the 50 state strategy.

Apparently, because we all thought that, much like ourselves, no one really gives a shiat about Dean.

Well that and he sucks (or secretly works for the GOP).

If the recent special elections are any indication... it doesn't look good for the Republicans. I know that we (Mississippi) elected a Democrat to replace the guy who was appointed to Trent Lott's senate seat, and he isn't looking real good right now against the Democratic former governor who is challenging him for it.

I didn't think Dean was going to be that good but I will give the man his due. While I think a large part of the Democrats success under him was due to Bush's stupidity I think he did a very good job and does deserve some credit.

johnny_vegas [TotalFark] 2008-07-17 07:10:51 PM
Dean was a legitimate and viable candidate for president..against a lot of opposition (some good bit from within his party) he has, not suprisingly IMHO, done a good job as DNC head.

I don't agree with all of what he espouses, but he is smart, rational, and I like him.

I love it when someone that never liked Dean, never voted for Democrats, and never will tries to tell those of us that do do those things who the chair should be.

Please put your suggestions in the circular filing container by the door.

Thanks.

RemyDuron 2008-07-17 07:26:41 PM
Yeah, they're idiots for wanting a committed, intelligent, and genuinely liberal DNC chairman. They would be better off with a soulless idiot like Terry McAuliffe. You Dean-haters much see something wrong with beating the Republicans, wonder why. . .

He SHOULD be president right now, if there wasn't a mass media hit job the likes of which we have never seen.

No need. I heard if you stand near Dean while he's ranting and breath normally you get a contact high.

I would readily have his throat babies, if called to such service.

Never seen before perhaps, but if you think we've never seen one since, I'd like to introduce you to my friend Rev. Wright. He's over there in the corner clinging to his gun because he's bitter. And he's not wearing a flag pin!

Much as I think Obama is a better candidate than Dean ever was, I can't help but wonder whether the reason it worked on Dean and failed on Obama is because in Obama's case they left it too late, until after he'd already got an insurmountable lead. Maybe they really didn't believe he could win on the merits so they didn't think it'd be necessary...

mrexcess [TotalFark] 2008-07-17 08:03:15 PM
While the Obama vs. Hillary feud was playing out, everyone was ready to blame Howard Dean... so now that it's all been settled amicably, with one candidate endorsing the other, let's make sure our finger pointing remains consistent. Dean has reinvigorated his party with his 50 state strategy, he's been a decent bulwark against the traditional party bosses, and is owed some credit for positioning his party well to win in 2008. He should certainly continue on as chair of the DNC.

Eh, actually I don't think Obama has much on Dean. Reverend Wright turned out to be a true douchebag (not his initial statements, which I largely agree with, but his later ones and complete lack of political tact). Flag pin was stupid, but they didn't harp on it near as much as Dean's yell. I mean, Dean's yell was a complete fabrication, the result of a directional mic and a media completely devoid of integrity.

how the liberal media works. Dean makes a scream into a mic at a rally and they play it a gazillion times acting like he's insane and kill his campaign.McCain has a meltdown over Viagra and birth control and acts like he's trying to crawl in a hole and it's not news.
80% of this country want a change of direction and yet McCain and Obama are with single digits in most places.
Never has our economy, military, world standing and civil liberties been so threatened. But thanks to the liberal media it's neck and neck.

We need a revolution to take back our media from corporate-political influence.they are our eyes and ears and a necessary part of our society. an uninformed public or misinformed public is not how it should be.

Only when I'm in his office paying him to cup my balls. But since it's been nearly 30 years since he's done that he should warm his hands under his pits first.

Here he is warming up for the wife....

AlterNet's piece on the media hitjob, "The Assassination of Howard Dean," pretty much sums up that disgraceful episode from our great liberal media nicely.

Howard's strategy works. Hell yeah on another four years.
